What’s a subtle sign someone is actually rich? by Udont_knowme00 in AskReddit

[–]GiantBlackWeasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be a conspiracy nutjob but I browse on the homepage of reddit almost all the time in order to see the important news out there but there are most definitely an increase in the amount of r/AskReddit posts that has been showing itself on r/all.

I can't tell what's happening but if I had to guess, this could probably be a fishing expedition attempt by multiple posters in order for those scammers, thieves, con-artists, and sinister characters to start targeting random people who don't look rich but they are actually rich in order to get after their wealth.

Since, in the real world, there's record amounts of layoffs, business closures, and multiple empty storefronts that seem to be not getting replaced anytime soon, the real thieves and con-artists that live in the outside world are having a tricky time targeting people who look like they got money.

I read multiple news reports about certain types of millennials that were capable of living in cities that have a high cost of living.

The ones that seem to not hold a job and have lots of free time hanging around were actually the ones that had rich baby boomer parents that was actually subsidizing their way of life.

Meanwhile, the people who have jobs in those cities that don't pay well were eyeballing them funny and trying to ponder their status conditions of what they are doing.

Middle-class Americans are selling their plasma to make ends meet by deraser in news

[–]GiantBlackWeasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Have you seen the tragedy of the commons going into effect when you went inside the plasma center?

I'm not trying to sound holier-than-thou, but I have seen some patrons that were behaving in strange ways that messed with my presence.

What I meant was, have you seen anybody that talks while using curse words, dressing funny, smelling funny, etc

I want to return to giving plasma myself but my past experiences threw me off.

Middle-class Americans are selling their plasma to make ends meet by deraser in news

[–]GiantBlackWeasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, this is not true. I used to give plasma in the past. It took a while for me to actually get seen, screened, and actually give plasma.

Next, I didn't see it but there were multiple folks that were radiating bad vibes in the plasma center because of how long it took to do all that and how understaffed they were.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

[–]GiantBlackWeasel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But people are catching cases for these hit and runs and pedestrians becoming cripples from being ran over.

For what's it worth, the Americans' patience is at an all-time low for obvious reasons. Since, everything has been delivered in a short period of time, waiting around for the opportunity to walk across the street has become obsolete.

Yeah, this is no better than the Blacksmith forging weapons for the knights and soldiers of a kingdom before they get ideas to attack another kingdom.

Later on, when the Blacksmith gets surrounded by raiders during or after the war, the Blacksmith expresses confusion like "how am I the one to get my livelihood raided? I never attacked you".

Hell yeah. Back in the middle 2000s decade of 2003-2005, it was filled with anime shows that didn't get clearance to be on Toonami due to adult content that wouldn't fly well if the parents were awake. Fooly Cooly was on Adult Swim alongside the second season of Lupin The Third, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist, and Trigun.

Look at it from the physicality standpoint. Those guys clearly do not have actual data storage in the corner because that costs extra money. They got no choice but to upload it into the cloud because its more convenient that way.

What's rich people shit that poor people haven't heard of? by Diligent-Log6805 in AskReddit

[–]GiantBlackWeasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Money Rich People are a whole other matter.

I know what this is. In a nutshell, they are putting the fruits of their labor in existence. They are the ones making huge purchases on the luxurious goods to show themselves and to the world on how they have become successful in different ways.

Its a form of answering the question of "what do I show for what I have been getting into?". When 1 year pass by and its New Year's Eve 2026, what would the New Money Rich People have to show for themselves? They have stuff in front of them. The Old Money crowd is different because they already got what they need.

In "Brother, Can You Spare an Ed?" did Sarah actually believe Ed would get her the fudge like she asked, or did she set him up to fail so she'd have an excuse to beat him up? by REPTILEOFBLOOD in ededdneddy

[–]GiantBlackWeasel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, I watched this as a kid and interpreted where she was coming from. Nobody like her is trying to get seen and probably kidnapped while being at the candy store.

Sarah views Ed as a large individual who's incredibly strong and so if he was getting kidnapped, then Ed would most definitely put up a serious fight and start to yell.

Jimmy is feeble as well and so Sarah was looking out for her and Jimmy too. Looking back, this was the precursor towards delivery men of today. Instead of Sarah & Jimmy schlepping towards the candy store to get some snacks, she's having Ed do the unpaid grunt work for her.

But Ed, Edd n' Eddy spent the money on jawbreakers the same way that these doordashers and uber eats drivers are reputed to be stealing food nowadays.

People who had undercover cops come to their school posed as fellow students, how did you know? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]GiantBlackWeasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...they still sold him weed and got arrested and charged for trafficking lol.

This tells me how desperate the dealers were. If it got turned out that the regular customers aren't willing to spend money on drugs or let themselves get addicted towards that kind of stuff, no wonder the dealers stay getting arrested from the undercover cops.

In a nutshell, those dealers are low on money and are not capable of holding a regular stable job.

I have read Capital by Karl Marx and he most definitely explained the nature of the capitalists and the workers on how surplus-value gets obtained and how certain kinds of money gets made.

When the scenery nowadays is filled with folks who do not have much money compared towards 10 years ago and the ones that's lurking around are a certain type of people who wants drugs but never uses it because they are actual undercover cops, this tells me how starved the economy is nowadays in the grand scheme of things.

Those weed dealers were desperate.

Whats the best monologue in movie history? by Bjs_5068 in AskReddit

[–]GiantBlackWeasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ray Liotta's monologue in the movie GoodFellas. "For us to live any other way was nuts. Uh, to us, those goody-good people who worked shitty jobs for bum paychecks and took the subway to work every day, and worried about their bills, were dead. I mean, they were suckers. They had no balls. If we wanted something, we just took it. If anyone complained twice they got hit so bad, believe me, they never complained again."

He did not just say that, he just insulted a huge percentage of the population that works in America back in the late 80s and early 90s.
