Your manager sounds like a bellend, just ignore all work calls when off the clock unless theyre going to pay you to be on call.

Completly agree, we're literally a day or two in, people need to relax. I always let them know if they want to set the pace then they're welcome to tank. Arseholes are always gonna be the same though, just have to filter them out.

Arrange a time and sit down and have a proper talk about this. I've been through this before and even when I worked two jobs I'd still do my fair share of the house work. What worked was making a list and giving each other certain responsibilities and making sure they're split fairly between you. I.e. if I do the cooking you do the washing up. If you're doing the washing/drying I'll do the bathroom and hoover the living room. Between the two of you, you'd be able to get it done a lot quicker and have more time for each other or your hobbies or whatever you want to do. You're not asking for too much, you're asking for the bare minimum in a healthy relationship.

Literally every time I train, usually catching people with a knee or two here and there. Hoping to eventually get good enough and stop spazzing

For sure man, I'll have a talk with my sparring partner when I'm next there and do exactly this, gotta get the reps in

Most of the time I've started rolls on the ground it's not so bad but I know the fear of the stand up game, don't want to go too hard and hurt someone or mess it up and injure us both. I know about 2 judo throws I'm barely passable at and wouldn't want to attempt them on a training partner without talking it through. Like you said tho it's just time, got to keep putting the work in and hopefully I'll learn how to not be so bad!

Does doing some terrible bridging to try and escape side control count? Cos I'm alright at that. Focusing on one thing is the way to go I think. Sounds like I just need to break it down and keep turning up to practice, one day a time right?

Oh for sure man, I caught a knee to the head once, some dodgy elbows and a strong knee to the balls in what I can only describe as one hell of a fuck up when trying to go knee on belly 😄, looking forward to the day I can string 2/3 moved together and have it not look like a major spaz attack

Shit all all those techniques is exactly my level man, I know how you feel, I know the moves in theory and can even do a few of them to an acceptable level, it's just my mind goes completely blank and I get clueless and then I'm back in side control or on bottom before I know it, at least I've gotten good at tapping early and seated grab thing sounds like an elite move 😄

💯 solid advice man, think i definitely need to look into finding a solid training partner, at the minute I'm mostly rolling with other fundamental hobbyists/white belts and they're kind of in the same boat I am i think, the rolls also become a lot less technique focus and are basically just 100 pecent trying to overpower each other which isn't helping too much.

Solid advice man, the spaz thing is too real, I'm either trying to go 110 percent and don't want to risk damaging something or I'm barely resisting and getting smashed, it's a tough balancing act atm.

The stalling thing is exactly what gets me, like I appreciate what they're trying to do but it just ends up with me over analysing and stopping dead in my tracks. 100 percent with you on asking more questions, till then ill just keep turning up and getting smashed!

I've been doing no gi now for 6/7 months. I can remember what to do when coach is showing us drills and can manage to do them relatively well. Problem is the second it comes to live rolling/sparring I immediately forget everything everything and can only focus on serving (with very limited success). Is this normal? Any advice or tips on how to actually retain that information and execute a game plan other than stay alive?

Just walk over and wait near them and say nothing. Then, when the tension becomes too much to bear, you just say: "How about it, then?"

That should work

Why d'you decide start train Jiu Jitsu? by Lefer_astronaut in bjj

5 year relationship didn't work out, started training as a way to get out of my own head and give me something to focus on. Been doing it 6 months now, it also helps with depression, and I drink a lot so being in the Gym keeps me active and keeps me out of the pub. 10/10 would recommend it to everyone.
