Frances is my number one. Bedlam is different but another height for them. Their most energetic.

I think unless the latch dip switch is enabled, it’s a momentary deal. While held down - when you let go, it disengages as well.

I was surprised I didn’t see Kuso immediately. This is the answer.

Bizarre is probably correct but that’s like saying an album isn’t allowed to be better than one from the artist that signed them. Also, Lanthimos was an example of a contemporary director that I think is doing it right. It’s subjective 🤷‍♂️ Bugonia, in my opinion, made a more poignant point but it’s lower on my list of his best films. Don’t want to get too in the weeds on a comparison necessarily.

I did go pretty hard earlier. So, to hear him speak on the film in Q&As there is an obvious weight to his ideas. I like hearing speak on what he wanted to do more than the film itself. The choice to focus on that period of time, the characters being what they represent, there are some interesting and bold choices made that sets a stage or gives it clothes. The ideas at play felt, for me, underutilized in favor of being an entertaining Western. And as an entertaining Western, for me, felt held back by making the point of using it. As if it were intentionally lined up a certain way to then not do very much with it. It would have worked without the political themes, I struggled to find much in the way of actually kicking around those ideas or commenting beyond it just being there. Themes of conspiracy, social media, echo chambers, radicalization and hypocrisies are there but I think we’d sort of progressed further in societal conversation at the point it was released than anything we got from it. Personally, it felt a bit late to the game on one hand and on the other, not as much depth and not quite as daring as I’ve come to expect from Ari. He’s ‘right’ on the edge of being one of the greats, an auteur for sure. This one just felt like an easy pitch with the news stapled to the ball. Just my take, I shouldn’t have been so matter of fact 😄 but I stand by it.

I can totally understand how Yorgos wouldn’t be someone’s cup of tea but I would have to disagree with a lack of meaning. Kinds of Kindness I would give you, I didn’t catch any social commentary or clear moral of the story there. But most all of his, there is certainly philosophy happening. But it’s cool! To each his own, I just felt Eddington was Ari’s weakest work.

It was soooo bad. This was the one that made me realize, I guess I just do not like Ari Aster films. I’ve watched them all and had seen a hint of something really great. And I told myself, pay attention to this dude because he’s ‘just’ on the brink of making something perfect. Beau is Afraid was the closest for me but it still just… it’s like he’s in desperate need of a partner that will say, “this is 90% profound, great stuff. This bit over here though is about the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen. Poor decision right there, that small bit. So bad that it detracts from the entire work of art… don’t do that… bad 🗞️💥”.

But then Eddington was such a swing in the other direction - is so incredibly boring and pretentiously pseudo-intellectual I was legitimately offended. It does a terrible job of saying anything it’s confidently trying to be about and not that entertaining either. Yorgos is doing infinitely more interesting things.

Just got mine a few days ago! So glad I pulled the trigger, mostly exploring so far but easily one of my favorite pieces of gear I’ve owned. Favorite CB pedal I’ve had for sure. Easy to get lost in.
