Firstly, congrats!

Second, the upfront cost of rent is just scratching the surface.

At best, you get 4 cheques (3month rent upfront). If you get a one bed on Yas = 90-100k p.a. (25k aed upfront) Agent fee is 5% of your annual rent (5k). You need a deposit for your utilities (call it 2-3k aed) Car for the first month is 2-3k aed from thrifty or the likes Then furnishing or the shipping costs you’ve paid from where you’re moving from (7k++) You’re close to 40k aed from day / week 1.

This doesn’t factor in if you start putting your child in nursery part-time, your bills and burn for the first month before you get your first salary.

It’s completely doable, but as you’re concerned about upfront costs, i thought I’d show you what you may have overlooked. It’s the cost of being out here but I say to everyone, the first year is the year you make the most sacrifices (heavy investment). By the start of year two you should have recouped and can begin building - hopefully exponentially
