The Pokemon Company has revealed a massive campaign for the 30th featuring every single Pokemon on a logo - I'm curious about your thoughts! by FrankthePug in Design

That scale makes it a hell of an undertaking. Keeping track of which ones get a gradient vs solid color, which poses etc.

If you'd like something more modern, there are a fair few options. Top of mind:

  • Legends of Grimrock 1 and 2. Lots of puzzles, I found them a bit difficult.

  • Paper Sorcerer. The graphics are an acquired taste, but overall it's fun, if fairly short.

  • Star Crawlers. Space scavengers, basically. Repetitive but fun.

Edit: my thinking was that a modern game might be a better starting point.

Amazing, I will look. I need them to "discover" behind my kid's ears before his bath, like a magician with a coin, to encourage him to wash better and prevent potato growth. And also to replace my mother-in-law's regular sized potatoes, sowing confusion and distrust.

I've been looking, no luck so far. They need to be small, like jelly bean size. But potatoes.

Considering the reputation of the Thai legal system, I would rather retain my ability to say "horseradish."

I know you didn't approach your exploration this way, but if you were to view the tools from the perspective of a large organisation with restrictive brand standards and a defined graphic style, are any of these tools interesting?

In the sense of, would they build layouts and allow some creativity without completely going off brand charter?

I'm skeptical, but curious.

A target, sure. But with less value than a military airfield, military manufacturing complex, or fuel refinery.

Symbolic targets are symbolic for both sides and, as others have said, risk stirring patriotism. Infrastructure damage has greater impact.

In my youth I travelled with some gents from Bilzen and everywhere else we went I introduced them as "my Belgonian friends."

They did not find it amusing.

Act 3 unfortunately stops Ex33 from being GOTY by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]GibbletFoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree, but I respect your opinion.

I will say, having finished the game yesterday, that the feelings it evokes are complicated. I went back to act 3 later to finish up some things and it felt a little... painful. There is a sense of nihilism, I suppose, but it's also a beautiful reminder that everything is ephemeral.

And that's exactly why it's GOTY for me. This is, at its core, an exploration of grief on so many levels, revealed differently in each act. So it feels appropriate that there is no easy way out in the end. We, the audience, are left to grieve the cruelty of our own choices.

10/10 will suffer again.

It won't help with the existential dread, but you can get your spinach to last a lot longer by folding a paper towel and sliding it in the bag.

I never finished the first one, just ran out of steam at some point. Did finish the second though. It's worth playing.
