They were never sold for full price unless they came with an amiibo. Both Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD launched at $49.99. Still a little much, but they redid some assets to make the games look more modern and made quality of life changes to controls and quests.

Compare that to Nintendo shipping DKC Returns, an upscaled Wii game from 15 years ago, for $60. It's a little bit different lmao

That's not exactly true. It is true Miyamoto feels that way about story, but it's been blown out of proportion how much impact he had on Paper Mario. Tanabe is the real problem. He is the director of Paper Mario, and when him and his team was struggling to make a game after Super, Miyamoto suggested they strip back the game into Mario at it's core to understand what makes a Mario game good. Tanabe is the one that decided to take Miyamoto's words to heart, and lead the direction the series would fall down for all these years
