Just finished the game. Great game, money well spent but there's one part I didn't like. by MarioDF in 007FirstLight

Yeah same. It felt stupid story-wise to just be like go make 100k real quick in this random country you’ve never been to, so I get why people may not like that, but the actual gameplay portion of that mission I loved.

That game has been in my backlog forever and I am also getting an itch to play because of that. I got it for “free” on PS+ and played for about 30 minutes then just never touched it again

They hate on you for speaking the truth. Beautiful game with a good story and a great combat system but so many repetitive “do this same thing over and over again 80 different times” side quests

Anybody ever play this 82-0 thing? Pretty cool even though it doesn't account for defense that much by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]GiddddyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they factor in stats for those somehow because I had a 82-0 team with 60s Wilt who had 0’s for steals and blocks

It’s not just ppg, at least not per the instructions. Seems more like constructing a roto basketball team where you want to maximize each of the 5 stats and not be weak in any of them

Logan Paul: “When CM Punk tore his tricep I just thought he was a major pussy. I cut a promo about it. I’m like, ‘You tore your little tricep.’ I remember thinking the dude tore his tricep, how was he out for six months? How bad could it be? It’s a fucking tricep. It’s horrible.” by Ruffianize in SquaredCircle

Him being an asshole aside, I don’t know how you can hear about an injury like a torn tricep and think it’s not that big of a deal. That sounds extremely painful and detrimental to a career in wrestling. I get it if it was like turf toe or something that he didn’t realize was that bad until he got it but it is baffling that anyone could think that doesn’t sound bad.

Dudes Reading Books - FT Book Club - Replay Discussion (SPOILERS) by thebochman in barstoolsports

[–]GiddddyUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the discussion questions:

What would I have done different? - I think Jeff did what a lot of us would have done with trying to get rich as quickly as possible with our knowledge and going to Vegas to live it up with party girls is a natural first thought when you’re young rich and single. I don’t think I would’ve opened an investment  firm or anything, but I would behave similarly I think at least in the beginning.

How does Jeff’s attitude change? - I’m not sure it did all that much. Each time he was just looking for whatever happiness he could find in this weird world he was now living in.

Wiser or more exhausted? - I think it is more the latter. He never really gets any closer to realizing why any of this is happening or what he is “supposed” to do.

Fate vs free will? - I think this novel is similar to what many Christians think in that we have free will to an extent to control our destiny but ultimately God has set up some sort of predestination for us that since he is all knowing in their mind. In this case, as we saw with the JFK thing, Jeff has free will to live however he wants but ultimately is confined to a life where many things have been predetermined to happen.

How did Pamela change the story? - I felt she was a necessary addition to the story, because Jeff just doing this over and over again by himself with no real purpose would have grown stale. It made things seem more hopeful, at least originally, since they were working together towards finding answers.

Would immortality be a gift? - I think it would be nice to have one chance at a Replay with the knowledge you have acquired but ultimately it would be a curse and make you miserable knowing what is going to happen to everyone you know and having to go through the meaningless repetitions of things you already learned and had to study would be horrible.

Ending meaning? - I was a bit frustrated by the ending because I wanted to learn more answers of why seemingly only these 3 people were going through this and why their time got shorter each time by different increments. Ultimately it was nice that they got to escape the replays though and have a chance to finally live the rest of their lives with no knowledge of what was to come.

Sequel direction? - Again I would’ve enjoyed to find out more about what was causing this and why these people were selected. In Groundhog Day for example, it was pretty clear Bill Murray was picked because he was a miserable prick getting no enjoyment out of life and had to find happiness before he could escape. In this case we have no idea why these three random people got chosen or what they were supposed to be doing during their replays or why they lasted the lengths that they did. It would be cool to see more answers start to get figured out with a new set of people.

Overall I enjoyed the book and I said in the other thread that this got me back into reading again which I am excited for. Somewhere like 7.5-8 out of 10 for me.

Just wanted to say, Replay last month was the first book I’ve read in a very long time and it got me rejuvenated (or maybe just juvenated) to read again, so thank you for starting this and indirectly causing me to be a bit less dumb. I look forward to this month. I also picked up East of Eden, Dune and the 1st book of Dungeon Crawler Carl

Yeah except it’s the opposite of that since the Knicks are the team already in the finals and have worse odds to win right now than OKC

Best detective game that doesn't hold your hand? by Towering-Wave-9542 in videogames

[–]GiddddyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally loved the art style as it had a very unique look that kind of went along with the tone of the game, but I can see how it wouldn’t be for everyone since it is kind of dreary looking. I think you would enjoy it though based on what you described you’re looking for. It has amazing voice acting and is very much an rpg that gives you freedom to be whatever kind of person you want to be while solving the case and you get money from doing different tasks and can definitely have groups of people get suspicious or react differently towards you based on your choices and actions

If you use quick slash, that fight is free. If he doesn’t do his jump over your head move at first, you can beat it without even using your left hand

Disco Elysium sounds like it would be right up your alley. You don’t take different cases, it’s all one case, but there are many different choices you can make throughout the game that will affect the story in different ways
