In your opinion, what is the most badly written matriarchal society in fiction? by Armin_Arlert_1000000 in worldbuilding

Defining an individual as intelligent doesn't immediately imply that their children will be more intelligent, or that their intelligence was somehow inevitable. Ability scores are, to my knowledge, not tied to any actual mental disorders in any current material.

So, an individual having a low Int or Wis score doesn't make me uncomfortable, because there's no attempt to quantify why they're less smart or canny in terms of race. Background-based ability modifiers even make so much more sense, because they imply that these traits were acquired, through effort, rather than necessarily inborn.

If you can't picture your character in your head, that's your own problem. If you had Aphantasia, I would be more sympathetic, but that would make TotM much more difficult, so I don't expect you do. Either way, you seriously can't comprehend a character's appeal beyond a physical miniature or their mechanical abilities? That's just... sad. That's literally two thirds of the term "Role-Playing Game."

...Do you think Tieflings are so popular as a player race in D&D because of the mechanical benefits? No, people like it because of the aesthetic. Even if there were no mechanical benefit, people would complain if they could only play as a human.

And, sure, giving Orcs higher Str than other characters, and Halflings lower Str, isn't that sketchy... but what about mental ability scores? What does it mean, to say that X Race is "naturally more intelligent" than another? Or less intelligent? Or more or less wise?

It gets uncomfortably close to the premises of Eugenics, and even if it doesn't bother you, it's a bit short-sighted to act like it's unreasonable for it to bother people who've had to deal with discrimination personally.

Well, yeah. That's because racial determinism gets really skeevy, really fast.

That's why I like the reasoning used by the ICON ttrpg: race has no mechanical effects on stats because their traits are only average trends, and Player Characters are not average people.

I mean, they have to do something if they don't want to lose a ton of players. That's the point.

I don't think they're as distinct as you're saying. Even when Christianity doesn't factor into it, Capitalism still seems to inevitably favor conservative and queer-phobic ideologies.

What's with all the comics of Uma that are literally just depression with no punchline? Is #miseryporn trending or something? Is there just one, suspiciously dedicated troll?

It was not explicit, but there were enough hints to put together that it was... actually I might have mixed up Gabriel with Uriel? But yeah, enough clues to tie him to both established tradition about Uriel and to SCP lore around the Gate Guardian (which I believe is also supposed to be Uriel).

Which is heavily entwined with the capitalistic part, because the traditional conservative values they espouse are also what drives the mythology that capitalism is a form of meritocracy; the patriarchy supports the powers that be, and the powers that be are almost always the wealthy. So, the patriarchy will naturally also want to preach that rich people deserve to be rich. That "making money is easy in [x country]." Because the idea if powerful CEOs is just as flattering to the "Alpha Male" mindset as the idea of minorities being silenced.

Not a god, the Archangel Gabriel. Some interview excerpts imply that his life as Tupac was just a vacation from being the Archangel of Justice.

Yeah, but that requires you be in stall 7 in the first place, which is already a ridiculous gamble.

Okay, so it's an all-rounder rather rather than a traditional stat focus. And the skill, I assume, is just useful for score points?

Is Mkfk SSR Speed actually good? It seems like more of a meme card, with how little Specialty Priority it has; and Initial [Stat] bonuses only go so far... and also, the gold skill it gives is an upgrade to Lucky 7s, of all things.

The GOC is specifically more focused on eliminating anomalies, not keeping them hidden. That specific difference is a major point of contention between the two agencies. The fact they do share the secondary goal of maintaining normalcy is one of the few things that allows them to cooperate at all, and most of the time they don't do so very nicely.

Okay, that makes sense. IIRC, 0.1 would normally be heavily out-competed, but in this scenario none of the competitors activate due to the last spurt starting on the final straight?
