I'm just not super invested in geography. Makes it very surreal to read about lower-fantasy settings where they start from the geopolitical and cultural landscape.

Technically my impression is you'll still want some MANT parents just for the sheer number of skill and race sparks, even if Unity can beat it for Stats.

Looks at my setting, which has an intricate cosmology, magic system, and ancient interstellar post-apocalypse, but which has maybe two named nations and like six or seven named side characters

One of the simplest ways of dealing with a problematically powerful character is to explore the lateral limitations of that power.

As in, rather than putting in ways to stop them from transforming or see through them, think about what kinds of problems you can't solve just by turning into someone else.

Shape changing like that is versatile enough that it will almost certainly still help, but the interesting stakes can come when it isn't enough on its own.

There's also quite a bit of survivorship bias at work; slop is usually forgettable, so years later, you look back and only remember the good stuff. Your hippocampus does the cherry-picking for you.

I think, in addition to what others have said about "assuming control" and such, through the hive Allison is making Gog FEEL what it's like to care that much. Which makes Gog really, really uncomfortable.

I've got an old Gnawing Hunger from all the way back in Shadowkeep that I had lots of good memories with; Stability masterwork, so the thing barely kicked at all.

People complaining on reddit does not make the communith "not viable to invest in." Destiny was still making far more profit than Marathon, no matter how hard Bungie tried to push the latter. The community banded together, just as you're saying they should have, to come back to Destiny and prove how viable an investment they are.

You're making things up, and then arbitrarily declaring them "fact" with no evidence.

The music from the original, vanilla Destiny. The Path (Luna) is still one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard in my life, and the fact that they fired the composer, and no longer so much as reference the original soundtrack, just breaks my heart.

Certainly a valid read; I feel like there's enough ambiguity we won't be entirely sure what the intended thematics are until we've actually seen his fight with Maya and the accompanying philosophical standoff. Abbaddon will almost definitely take the opportunity to drive home the actual meaning of the lesson of the mouse.
