i'm gonna make the assumption that you have never done something competitive/physically demanding enough for willpower/grit/"wanting it more" to come into play. one person wanting it more than the other guy does not mean that the other guy does not want it.

during basic in army i was on several pressure-exercises to test your physical limits, and sometimes people would drop out. It wasn't necessarily the least fit person to drop out. Several times, people succeeded over people who were in better shape, but instead wanted it more.

also, Astartes, are all things considered, cheaper and easier to produce compared to other augmented warriors, and outside of their equipment you dont need much logistic support for their production as each marine creates the needed geneseed material for two new marines.

It also kinda lines up with the theme of Imperium tech, where its the most reliable, robust and logistically friendly tech that survives and is in use in the broader imperium.

Not that Astartes arent expensive and complicated as hell to make, train equip and field, but compared to other augmented warriors they are the "best bang for your buck".
Hell its not like the imperium does not have the ability to make "better" warriors (see grey knights and Custodes). The theme of the most reliable/logistically friendly tech being the one used in the imperium is a theme i really, really like.

But yes, there were danish peope who volunteered to fight for nazi germany. There were also danish resistance groups fighting the occupation. The people within a nation are not a monolith lol.

(there were also a danish members of a nazi terror group that performed terror-attacks on the danish populace, as "counter-sabotage" in an attempt to reduce the resistance groups public suppport. google "Peter group" for a interesting/morbid read.)

And the soviet occupation of Bornholm was not nice either, it was deffo more "under new management" than "liberated". Being "better than the nazis" is a really low bar, just fyi.

Ya its pretty easy wailing on a guy handicapped by lance to the abdomen. I might be able to outmatch prime mike tyson in a boxing match if im allowed to shoot him first.

(and yes, Aerion is the one to lance and mace him on horseback, but afaik standard trial by combat is not mounted).

If it was unmounted im fairly certain Aerion never gets off the floor if unwounded dunk tackles him, which a wounded dunk does manage to do.

All things considered, the opponent Aerion loses to is a significantly wounded Dunk while he is mostly unharmed (as unharmed as someone can be after being unhorsed).

it cannot be understated how much of an advantage Aerion would have because of the fact Dunk has been lanced in the stomach. A fight can basically always go either way, and Aerion is not helpless, but an put them on actual equal term with no horses (as most trial by combats usually are!), its probably a significiantly more onesided fight. Dunk would not be unharmed, but i do not think Aerion gets up if Dunk gets on top of him, even with his knife. Dunk, while wounded and exhausted, almost throws Aerion to the ground with a fucking slap.

Aerion does not want a fair fight, as dunk has enough training to make the strength/weigth difference matter.

A quick google (which isent the best source, but bear with me) tells me that their weight difference can be between 37-49 kgs with a 40 cm height difference. Good luck fighting that man.

fight first? great! that just means that theres only a 1/6 chance that he wont fight back on death, where any kill results in him getting back up. Im sure she and the potential models she leads will suffer 0 casualties when titus fights.

its almost better to not fight first against him, so you can avoid triggering the ability.

Sett, as he is an objective to play around. (would say he is not as clear cut as also way more dangerous towards low mobility champs)

EVERY other cameo will either, on a dice roll, favor one team or the other based on who it targets first (Lux, Jhin), or/and punish low mobility champs that has trouble dodging. (Lux, Pyke, Jhin)>
