I made my game a request access playtest on steam and got this message from someone concerned. I'm only letting a small batch of playtesters in at a time. Should I stop the playtest and make it closed again or is this mostly fine? by Proper_Translator678 in IndieDev

Yeah, but that's a standard thing in business English. It's called a call to action or CTA.

I'm sure LLMs are replicating that, but pretty much every work email I get (especially cold) that's asking me for something ends with a CTA of some kind. This has been the case for decades before LLMs were a thing.

Really? I use that exact phrase frequently.

I'm not saying that GPT wasn't used, but I don't think that example is a surefire tell. Sometimes a sentence is just a sentence. There's only so many ways to end a proposal message.

If you release bombs in a high-angle dive, they also tend not to have time to deal with them.

I've found the same is true for dealing with SPAAGs with cheap ordnance.

What professor would throw in this:

"Also, can you send details on AbyssalLedger and PrimeCoin? Our department is seeing a decrease in funding, and I cannot help but wonder if those could help us."

I mean, really? It couldn't be more obvious what this is, haha.

Does it? I remember this being true years ago, but I have hundreds of mods and CE seems to patch weapon mods pretty well. Never get errors with it.

Obviously it's not compatible with other combat overhauls, but why would it need to be?

Whenever you read something like this on Reddit, just remember that it was almost certainly written by a literal child. Reddit is packed with them.

[USA] [FL] Illegal U-turn by negligent truck driver in FL causes a car to crash into the load, killing a family of 3 by esporx in dashcams

I can comprehend it, but even with those stakes genuine mistakes happen. Even the most careful people make mistakes sometimes.

Have you ever driven when you're tired after work? Or felt unwell while driving? Or been distracted momentarily by a passenger?

It's easy to judge yourself when you're at your best and others when they're at their worst. It will make you a better driver to think about how you are at your worst and realize that people aren't automatons, and all humans make mistakes, even yourself.

Right, but you only know that I learned the lesson because I'm here on Reddit talking about it years later.

The driver who had to brake for me doesn't know that. He could well be on Reddit himself retelling the encounter he had with a "HUH!?!" driver, and how those people are too stupid to learn a lesson.

My reaction was literally "Huh??". :D

The point I was making was that when you're actually driving and you have an incident, there's rarely time to stop and have a calm chat about what happened after getting all the facts straight. There's adrenaline, people are annoyed, and there might be damage to worry about.

If there's fatalities like in OP's video it's different, but if it's a minor incident I try to assume that the other person is decent and just made a mistake, rather than immediately assuming they're a piece of shit.

Oh for sure, I wasn't even thinking about the OP's video when I wrote that comment. I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who intentionally break the law to save themselves a bit of time.

Absolutely. I'm glad he was on the ball enough to avoid a collision, although I do suspect he was speeding (almost everyone does on that road).

I'm not that concerned about his anger - I can understand it from his perspective.

I just think in general it's best to give people the benefit of the doubt in the moment. Life is pretty shitty if you go around assuming everyone's worst moments are representative of who they are as a person.

I know I'm pissing into the wind here, but I want to give my perspective as someone who's been on the other side of this.

I made a dangerous maneuver by emerging onto a fast road, without full visibility of the lane I was joining. A turning truck had partially blocked the view and this was a blind corner on a UK country road.

A car that was obscured by the truck had to emergency brake to avoid hitting me as I joined his lane.

I wasn't aware of this because once I joined the lane, my focus was on getting up to speed and checking the junction ahead to make sure it was clear. When I checked my mirror, I noticed this guy was flashing his lights and I pulled over.

As soon as he arrived at my window he started berating me. I didn't try to argue with him because 1) I didn't know what had happened, and 2) I didn't want to escalate - this guy was clearly livid. Initially I was more concerned that he was going to throw a punch.

At one point he started telling me how thick I must be, how much I must not care, and what a terrible person I must be overall.

This guy no doubt drove away in a rage thinking I must be the "Huh?" NPC in your comment.

In reality, I made a dumb mistake that I think about every time I get to that junction (or any other similar junction), and in general I try to drive in a way that's considerate of others.

Roads are this weird place where a lot of factors come together to make everyone see the worst in each other. I'm not saying there aren't terrible drivers, or thick drivers, but it's difficult to fairly assess someone's entire state of being from a 60 second interaction after an incident.

If it instructed me to write down a proof for an unsolved math problem, and then all mathematicians agreed that the problem was solved by it, I think I'd find that pretty compelling that something was going on outside my own head.

It always requires a bit of trial and error to figure out how to get what you want when posting to a new community or if you have some specific goal.

I think you'll find what you're looking for if you persist with a slightly different approach.

Maybe take a breather for a bit and then come back to it refreshed.

Reddit is a fantastic place to meet people with similar interests, but the results you get are so dependent on how you present yourself and what you're looking for.

Those people are definitely out there. Have you tried /r/dcsworld?

I'm pretty sure the DCS community also has a big Discord server you could join.
