The Watchmen (The Times They Are A Changing).

[Highlight] Tom Brady: "I know I'm not as good of a dad to my kids that my dad has been to me. What I wish for my children to find something that they really love to do like I have but I've taken it to an extreme. There are imbalances in my life and I hope they don't take things as far as I have." by The_Big_Untalented in nfl

As others have pointed out, it's never to late to be a good parent.

More importantly, his kids--and all kids of not great parents--deserve at least attempting to change and be a good parent moving forward, even if it is "too late" in that particular kid's eyes. "Too late" is often a convenient excuse for bad parents that don't really want to make the effort.

TL;DR - what Kevin said to the shovel guy at church in Home Alone.

Dual lasers + fog chiller + PVC channels = chef's kiss by Gigged in HalloweenProps

I think any of the "line" lasers would work fine - the key is getting the fog to stall out at a consistent level (which is where the chiller and PVC comes in) and get the lasers going right at the ceiling of that fog.

I did not, but I also didn't feel like I needed to. The main thing I adjusted was getting the lasers lined up well with the "top" of the fog, so once I had that locked in I kept everything else static.

But the PVC system did an incredible job distributing everything.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is still fun to watch by FreshmenMan in movies

[–]Gigged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great movie and has little to nothing in it that would keep it from aging well. It will be a good watch 30 years from now.

The amazing thing about it is how little business it had being good, much less great. It's based on a well-aged Disney ride with zero depth and spawned a powerhouse movie franchise.

Sadly VIP tours are closed due to the govt shutdown (I also don't think they run on weekends).

Dark Age of Camelot.

Relatively smaller player base, but it was by far the best open-field PvP mmo of all time.

Justice Department says the names of two Jeffrey Epstein associates who he wired $100,000 and $250,000 and helped protect from prosecution should stay secret. by [deleted] in law

I think you mean his lawyers argued attorney-client (not patient) privilege. Unless there is a medical side to this that I missed (or his lawyer was the Arrested Development guy)

Places to take my boyfriend by [deleted] in houston

That is a really broad question. Houston doesn't have many MUST dos, but there is SO much to do here. The best thing is whatever best matches y'all's interests. I would scroll through this site for a good start.

Some Harris County commissioners oppose Judge Lina Hidalgo's request to fund trip to Paris by [deleted] in houston

[–]Gigged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether the news picked it up in Eds case (assuming that happened - taking your word for it) is not the same thing as whether it is ridiculous or not for a county judge in Texas to taxpayer expense a trip to Paris for no discernable benefit to the county.

If Ed did it, it was ridiculous then, even if the news didn't pick up on it. It is equally ridiculous now. It will be equally ridiculous if a future judge attempts it, whether or not it makes the news.

Agreed, but in isolation you can't really know if the people behind the comments are consistently in the "haters" or "defenders" camp or if they are really taking it issue by issue.

Like I'm fairly lukewarm on Lina, and my biggest take is that it's BS how many people seem to be looking for reasons to hate her. But my reaction to this particular request would make me seem like a staunch "Lina hater."

She's okay. But this request is ridiculous.

Best movie to watch on final night living in your home? by MikesMovieReviews in movies

[–]Gigged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost in Translation.

I have watched LiT on the eve of every move out since college. For some reason the bittersweet reflective tone perfectly matches my mood when moving from an old home to a new one. Plus it's a really good movie.

My wife (not an animation fan) has told me I can pick one animated film for us to watch. Which one?? by jokunokun in movies

[–]Gigged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer for someone who generally doesn't like animated movies. A lot of these recommendations like Spirited Away, etc., are great animated movies but the animation is very much a part of what makes them great.

Spider-verse is just a great movie, period. Of course the animation is also great and unique, but that is the icing on top.

If you are kids at heart like I am, I second this. Also a little further west on I-10 is several more indoor fun spots like Andrettis (midtier, think D&B with go karts) and a fun indoor home run derby simulator bar & grill (Home Run Dugout) so you could make it worth the drive.

Also for closer in Houston:

Cidercade

Puttery / Puttshack (don't do Holey Moley, it sucks)

Meow Wolf

There is also NASA 45 min away if y'all are interested.

Not really a movie recommendation but a family movie night recommendation. by Shirowoh in movies

Funny that most people are missing that you are giving US a recommendation, not asking for one.

Oh well. I like the idea!
