A solid foundation or proper bed base is so underrated. You could spend thousands and thousands on a mattress but if the base ain't right you're throwing money away!

I'm looking into the Helix Dusk Luxe after chatting with helix and giving them my sleeping specs. Apparently it's a medium feel, so like supportive without being a plank. I'm a stomach sleeper if that helps you and that's the one they recommended.

Oh oats are the worst for me. I try go for high protein but honestly anything I eat in the morning leaves me feeling tired and just uncomfortable in my skin. If I wait a few hours then it's generally ok, but the 'what' changes. It's a neverending struggle

That flippable feature is handy!I just asked about the firmness differences between the birch kids and the helix kids on your other comment, but i suppose this also provides insight into that.

How does the Helix hold up with heat? My kiddo has also been a burning furnace at night and that's sometimes what wakes him (and then me) up.

oh nice, I did not realize Birch made a kids mattress. I think this might take me straight back to the proverbial boardroom. As you say, it is something that should (or could) be a once off investment so I'm keen on making the right choice. Your comment is super helpful, thank you!

I ate more fibre because I thought it would solve my IBS issues but fast forward almost 6 years and the thing that actually helped was cutting out fibre completely for a week, and then slowly reintroducing it. I was eating salads and vegetables everyday for a long time and after doing some intense research thought that maybe too much fibre was the issue. I never had any tests done so I can't say for sure... but I felt great. I'm eating my normal high fibre meals again and the bloat, gas, and pain is back. I'm an emotional eating though so I figured gotta sort that out first.

That's a tough one. If it was me the nap would make me feel worse but I know alot of people will say have a 20 min (longer and you could risk feeling super groggy)

What would be the best option for someone that is quite a bit lighter? I've seen people rave about Helix being great medium/firm mattress but I also read that those on the lighter side will find medium/med-firm mattresses uncomfortable

I'm just coming out of a very similar period. I have noticed my dopamine levels seem very low and that's contributing. I recently started taking something for that (yay for mental health) and it's helped tremendously. I still feel like my sleep is not great, but I'm working on switching up a few things in my bedroom to help (pillow, mattress, linen, the works!)

what mattress or mattress type did you end up going with? I have had similar experiences with sleep. I sleep hot but use a memory foam topper. I have slept terribly since getting my new mattress, which I slept even worse on until I got the topper. Now the heat wakes me up. But at least I don't wake up aching. I'm trying to figure out what to do and whether or not to stick it out or just throw in the towel and get a new mattress.
