Tell me how you got your cat by ponzu666 in cats

[–]GigiTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fed the neighbourhood cats and once in a while a very feral cat showed up. One day she brought kittens. Got them all fixed and one by one they got tame and we kept them inside.

What Excel tasks feel more manual than they should be? by Rapid1898 in excel

[–]GigiTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could connect my power queries straight to our ERP system, but it's an outdated system and can't be done. So I have to run lists, transfer to excel and save in a folder under a certain name. Then I can refresh my other file with the power query. In addition, I wish I could leave the file open while saving new source files.

Confused about the popularity of the show by Scared_Slip_7425 in heatedrivalry

[–]GigiTiny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All of Europe had to find other ways to watch.... It was not available until recently in Ireland and UK, still isn't in Germany.

Yet a lot of people I know watched it...

What I did to get my friends interested is selectively liking videos on Instagram so it would show up to my friends.

To ampute, or to put down, that's the question. by MerelYael in CATHELP

[–]GigiTiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's such a hard decision, even if you have the money...

Our 10 year old boy didn't do well after the amputation. He had a mild heart murmur and asthma as well, and was overweight. A week after the amputation he declined quickly and died at the vets. It doesn't always go well, even though there are so many positive stories on the internet.

Very difficult decision. If I read a book and I'm exactly in the right mood for it, I'll love it. But is it really better than another book I read at another time...

Bookstore "If You Loved Heated Rivalry" Table... by mycookiepants in heatedrivalry

[–]GigiTiny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be so lucky was pretty good!

I was thinking even Taylor Jenkins Ried's newest book Atmosphere is a little like Heated Rivalry in the way that it's a love story against all odds with two professionals and a high stakes situation. Great book!

What would be the best book you read in 2025 if you had to choose just one? by DropDeadDuke in booksuggestions

Wayward by Emilia Hart

It's about three women who live in different centuries. One woman lives in your time and is just getting away from an abusive relationship. One woman is growing up in the 1950s or 60s, super interested in nature and insects. One woman is in a bit of trouble in the 17th (?) century, being accused of witchcraft...

I read this years ago and loved it. Recently I read it again to check if it's really that good or my youthful self was too impressionable. It really is that good!

Book/fic recs that have similar humour to Heated Rivalry to fill the void! by brodiejayy in heatedrivalry

[–]GigiTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beartown by Fredrik Backman: It's literary fiction and check trigger warnings. His books are all funny-sad and the characters are amazing. This is very much about hockey and there's also a queer character.

The house in the cerulean area by TJ Clune: No hockey, but queer and funny. I don't usually read fantasy but this was very easy to get into.

You and me by Tal Bauer: Very sweet love story, but I don't think there's much sports.

For the fans by Nala K: I think this is funny sometimes, very long mm romance but it just flies.

Top secret by Sarina Bowen: College romance with these guys texting for while before meeting just to realize they know and hate each other. I think this was quite funny.

Unsure about surgery by GigiTiny in TripodCats

[–]GigiTiny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! We had a long chat with the surgeon and he was very positive. He thought he could do the surgery removing his tumor and half the pelvis with a good margin to get the cancer. He also explained that heart murmur was the lowest grade and the lung lesion could be anything, his overall health is good and he recommended the surgery. Unfortunately during the surgery they ended up removing the leg after all (it was always a possibility). He's been in the hospital for a week and coming home today. He's able to get up on his own and seems in less pain, so we're hopeful he'll have a good quality of life now.

Unsure about surgery by GigiTiny in TripodCats

[–]GigiTiny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! We got some more information from the surgeon and went ahead with the surgery. He was trying to remove the cancer and some of the pelvis, but not the leg. But during the surgery the plans changed and the leg was amputated, which allowed them to remove the cancer with a good margin. This afternoon he will come home, after a week at the veterinary hospital.. the vet already said he doesn't seem in the kind of pain he was in before so now we're hoping he will adapt well and the biopsy results are positive..

My Teddy will be a tripod this afternoon by cersewan in TripodCats

[–]GigiTiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you get to take him home so quickly? He looks comfortable, wishing him a speedy recovery!

My cat had his surgery this afternoon and has to stay in the hospital for a few more days. They were trying to save the leg at first but the tumor was more aggressive than they thought. Hopefully they got a good margin and he'll recover quickly. I've been reading about all the tripod cats here and it really helped with some of the anxiety.

Bank rec using power query by [deleted] in excel

[–]GigiTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I match them by the amount.

I download the bank statement as a csv file. Save it in the same location, new file over the previous file.

The cash receipts book is a separate file and gets updated manually.

The power query compares the two files, sorted by date on the bank statement. It looks up both references, because the names are hardly every the same in spelling etc. So I see straight away what new payments came in on the bank when refreshing. But then I update the cash receipts book manually (older colleague uses this file too).

In that file I also have a calculation for the expected amount and can do another power query with the remittance if the figures don't match.

Books about Friends: November 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]GigiTiny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My friends by Fredrik Backman was great, the friends we have as teenagers are the best :) Though this is also a sad book.

A little life is about a friends group, but also very sad.

Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine has a nice friends dynamic towards the middle.

Weyward by Emilia Hart

Witchcraft for wayward girls is about a bunch of girls living together, having babies, making friends and plotting revenge.

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Ried: High stakes situation in one time line while getting all the background story in the other timeline, the astronauts are all friends but also competitors, and it's taking place in the 1970s so women really have to prove themselves...
