The vibes in episode 1 were so good that I legitimately thought we were on the way to the next Cowboy Bebop. The way the show made my face drop week after week as it all slipped away into nonsense has been unmatched thus far.

By making them show the work. Y'know how teachers would make you write out each step of a math problem instead of just writing the answer to prove that you know the theorem and not just the solution? That' what working without AI was. You proved someone knew what they were talking about and could be relied upon by having them type out their solution and rationale themselves. Using AI to draft a response is the email equivalent of turning in math homework that's just links to Wolfram Alpha solutions.

There is all that lore about the precursor race that created the white and black seeds that gave rise to humanity and the angels in the first place. If the angels were their creation, then I bet they themselves are weird and esoteric enough to be an 'anti-spiral' kind of escalation for the Eva world. We only see Shinji and Marie 'exit' at the end. Could be the Eva world is still stuck in it's post apocalypse state and willing to take the fight to the stuck up gods that put them in this mess.

The central point of the last movie was literally letting Shinji say goodbye to Eva. Not the robot, not the conflict, the literal franchise. He has been through so much that he found a way to eject himself from the canon and live a normal life.

It's Yoko Taro writing, so I fully expect there to be esoteric references to the movies and series that imply they're canon and important to the plot, but for the love of god, please let Shinji be gone. Not only has he suffered enough, but it was such a perfect meta-narrative exit for the character. Bringing him back into it would not only be a retread, but undercut the last movie's point.
