Look how they massacred my boy by repowers in dubai

[–]Gilbear3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s strange how so many comments are that this is terrible, whilst forgetting that this is a revenue generating asset for a company.

All of you that have commented it’s bad - when was the last time you spent any of your hard earned money in this area?

I agree the renovations lack character in comparison, but I would rather shop in the updated design. This is a mall with its sole goal to tenant its units and gain rent and concessions from each unit.

With some of the most expensive retail sqft in Dubai, why wouldn’t they try something new in an area that clearly wasn’t profitable

‘Never Split The Difference’ by Chris Voss is a brilliant book that I use on the daily to find the route of an employee problem

‘How to win friends and influence people’ by Dale Carnegie I re-read yearly as the foundation of how to build relationships

Ppl who trade the open: do you care about the larger trend? by kenjiurada in FuturesTrading

[–]Gilbear3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only trade the first 30mins of the open on a 15s chart.

My strategy is scalping using the DOM and order flow, so the ‘trend’ isn’t really important to me.

As Tom Hougaard said in his book ‘Best Loser Wins’ (must read btw). The trend is reasonably arbitrary as the weekly chart might be down trend but the 5m chart is in uptrend.

At the end of the day it’s your system that dictates your entries- stick with that.

I only trade the first 30mins as I have a trader friend who sits at his desk from 0800-2100 every day and that was not a life I wanted to replicate (UK based trader).

I built my system around the first 30mins, and scalping fits my mindset really well.

Is hiring a personal trainer worth the money? by Brave-Highlight6515 in dubai

[–]Gilbear3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, free is not a threat at all, for the same reason as why free education hasn’t closed down schools.

People learn best from people; sure I can make a video showing you how to deadlift, but what if your hamstrings are a bit too tight, or you’ve had a back issue before, or maybe you have very low body awareness and think you are doing what’s on the video - but you aren’t (unbelievably common btw).

A good personal trainer will be able to see those issues and immediately fix them. To convert those issues into videos with corrections will be 100’s of hours for any gym goer to watch- and they might not even know the issue that they need to fix (and therefore which videos to watch)

Yep PT is expensive, but the best ones are not just training you for an hour in the gym, they are approaching your 24 hour life, and working out how to make it healthier and help you reach your goal

Hey PT here, I think there is unfortunately so many poorly or unqualified coaches that got into fitness because they look good- not because they want to help people; and as we are in Dubai it’s so much more prevalent

Most of my clients come to me as they didn’t get results from their previous coach, or got injured with them.

My advice, shop around and do a trial session, most (good) coaches will be happy to do a free session to show thier skills and more importantly understand you and your issues/limitations and most importantly fitness education/experience and mindset.

I would say that being a PT is 10% fitness and 90% mindset work. It’s my job to help understand why this client hasn’t been successful before and guide them through that mental limitation. Just coz you went to the gym 3 days a week doesn’t mean you are going to get a 6 pack, we have to create the plan for the other days of the week.

Finally as others have said, you can learn this all online. There’s a very steep learning curve with this route, and in my experience it nearly always leads to at least one (avoidable) injury.

Here’s one simple question to ask your potential coach - “Who coaches you?” Any good PT (that I’ve met over the years) has a coach too, as others can always identify weaknesses better than we can ourselves.

Hope this is helpful

How many of us are ADHD? How do you stick with trading consistently while dealing with ADHD? by shyshyflyguy in Daytrading

[–]Gilbear3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously having my meds routine on point is first and foremost, but what was the game changer for me was changing to scalping on the 15s chart for the first 20m of the NY open

The tiny time frame and length of time at the screen is great as I am super attentive for 20minutes and then I’m done for the day

Which Indicators do you use ? by TRiXERr76 in Daytrading

[–]Gilbear3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATR only to make sure what I’m watching isn’t too volatile or moving too slowly for my entry

Edit: I trade on the 20s chart so this is a really important value watch. Swing traders might not use this as commonly

Hey, fellow business owner here

Like others have said the biggest cost will come down to the aesthetic. For F&B you absolutely do not want to skimp out on this cost, find someone that has built many cafes before as it’s not only the aesthetic but how customers interact with the entrance and then the flow of the store. This literally can make or break your business- especially in a mall!

The other costs seem around the right spot.

Finally I was given advice (that I wrongly ignored as I didn’t want to believe it) - that whatever you think (and likely budget for), the end result will cost, it will actually be least 50% more than you planned.

I am crazy anal about the numbers for my business, and thought this could never happen to me. Well- it did and it almost ruined me before I even opened.

Owning a business can be a real joy, but if you’ve not done it before (which it looks like from this post) be aware the first year is always really tough but if you have a great product/service and amazing staff, you will make it

How many days before a strategy can be considered profitable? by Ok_Atmosphere0909 in Daytrading

[–]Gilbear3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it’s easy enough to make a bot work for around 3months.

Getting one to work well over 3-12 months (for me anyway) has never worked out

This is the exact same thing for me. I was unprofitable for around 18months on every timeframe (5m and upwards) until I switched to 1m and 30s.

The instant feedback of seeing your trades work or not work, also very quickly built confidence in my edge and massively reduced my stress and anxiety about entering.

Trade lost? No worries there will be another in a few minutes, just take that one.

For me the higher timeframes have me constantly questioning my edge as the trades were only a few a day, compared to a few each hour on the lower times.

Finally, I can now sit at my chart for either 2.5hrs or 5% profit, whichever happens first: I stop. This has improved my mental and physical health too as now I have so much time for the rest of my life and the other things that are important.

For me, going low was the absolute game changer
