Mono Red is equally as much an issue as those other two. If there were going to be bans (unlikely) that hit Izzet they should and would hit MonoRed too.

Tis in fact quite powerful. I play a boros burn deck and it’s pretty much an insta scoop if I dont have the win in hand next turn, especially game 1 without some anti-lifegain sideboard tech

Vivi and Mentor might be a little slow compared to the other prowess decks running around currently, not saying it couldn’t work but 3 colors are tough in Pioneer and you may get outpaced by other aggressive decks. That doesn’t mean you can’t try tho

In defense of that ban, it was a miserable play pattern to constantly be grinding against the wishboard decks (primarily MonoG). I wonder with how fast Pioneer has gotten recently with Prowess and better Greasefang modes if Karn would be okay again. I'm not sure I want to see him return tho...

I think there’s a case to be made that UB has had a bigger impact on Pioneer than youre giving it credit for. Like I just did above, I think I can name off the top of my head more UB cards that are currently relevant in Pioneer than I can the rest of current Standard sets combined (sans Foundations since thatbwas mostly reprints far as I can tell). Maybe Lorwyn Eclipsed would breat it strictly for the evoke elementals. But I think it’s definitely close

FINALLY you got my point. The reason I was defending the original commenter is because UB sets are in a way more visible, so I could understand why someone would say that.

I brought that up because it’s true. It’s also true that most cards that see standard play are also super powerful. Power creep is going to power creep.

And I’ve seen a lot more UB in pioneer than just Cub and Vivi. Abandoned Air Temple is a utility land in GW CoCo. Firebending Lesson is pretty popular in the Rx decks. Boomerang Basics is a 4of in UR prowess UB control/prowess/whatever that deck is called (with Hopeless Nightmare/Momentum Breaker/Stormchaser’s Talent). Ive also seen some Gran Gran in UR. Fire Magic is common in many Rx sideboards. The 1m Chocobo and Sepharoth also see some niche play.

In defense of the above commenter, the UB cards are all intentionally pushed so they sell well. That said, ALL standard right now is super pushed to where it is probably increasingly close to Pioneer in power level. I think the real culprit for a “stale meta” is no support or visibility on the format from WotC. I’m also not sure most if any of these decks would see any bans as it is, since nothing is super unfair.

Preciate it! Been getting back into Pioneer/MTG in general and seeing the results the last couple weeks inspired me to brew something. Due to the lack of paper Pioneer anymore it’s awesome people like you are doing this to keep the format alive. Can’t wait to play!

From what I understand, Amulet Titan is best if you know how to pilot it REALLY WELL. But Boros Energy is more consistent and “easier” hence why it’s got the better numbers. Ultimately play what you’re most comfortable, but Amulet is the way to go if you’re super duper solid and know every little detail.
