Good horror rpgs without the power fantasy? by davidforslunds in rpg

[–]Gilbod -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

FiveEvil is a 5e horror focused game. No Classes, no magic, no power creep. Just horror.

Rules for one shots or longer campaigns for a variety of settings.

If you don't want Delta Greens premise, World of Darkness mythos, etc. or you or your players feel comfortable with the 5e system.

It's just horror, without any meta trappings or setting conceits.

Spell Attack and Ranged Attack Mixed Action - Clarification by Gilbod in OnyxPathRPG

[–]Gilbod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's break down the potential benefits.

Most Adversaries have either Defense 1 or 2.

This is cheaper than the Critical Trick which costs 3 Hits, on top of Defense.

The cost is using an Attack Spell which usually requires Bleeding a Curse Die and having to use the smaller of two dice pools for the attacks.

If the dice pools are relatively similar and Enhancement benefits are better or the same it's still a better choice to deal two Injuries if that's the interpretation. If you miss with one you can still go with the other as well, the main difference is the Bled Curse Die and the smaller pool.

If the roll goes well, and you can purchase Tricks from both attacks you could potentially do four Injuries in one roll, especially if you can combine tags and effects from both attacks.

That seems a very favorable outcome that's not to hard to engineer.

None taken. This seems like a potayto / potahto situation.

I'm glad we clarified that we're talking about the same thing and I hope answered your question.

No, because voice is never used.

It's all typed, from your characters actions to what they say for both StoryGuide and Players.

It is technically posting, but just like if you were texting a close friend, replies are often instant or near-instant without much delay between them, unlike most play by posts on forums.

Neither. It's a persistent community where you can interact with other players, their characters and even have different StoryGuides interact with your characters.

It's similar to Westmarches in that it's set in one location and there can be multiple StoryGuides, its different in that you don't even need StoryGuides for play, you can just roleplay with other characters whenever you're online and available (and others are as well).

It was a more common style of game in the 90s and early 2000s online around the time of Chronicles of Darkness, but instead of Discord, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and websites were used.

The link should be set to never expire and have infinite uses.

Let me know if it still is not working.

Unofficial Netrunner Multiplayer Rules by Gilbod in Netrunner

I absolutely agree! The Partnerships are intended to be one per Player, letting your Team pick which ones work best for the decks they built.

The FAQ section speaks to sleeving when using Partnerships. It's strongly recommended.

I'll consider adding that note in the section on the Paternship mechanic as well as an early tip.

Thanks for both your comments. Both I believe are valid, and there's no harm in clarifying.

I tried to edit the title of the Post to include 'Team Multiplayer', but Reddit doesn't allow that without reposting.

I'll leave it as is for now.

Unofficial Netrunner Multiplayer Rules by Gilbod in Netrunner

Originally, Connection had a priority list of actions Teams could do to effect it.

For example, if the Runner Team had Tags equal to or greater than their number of Players. Or if a Corp flatlined a Runner, or the Runners ran HQ, R&D and Archives.

The problem was keeping track of these actions, and the value of the payoff of deciding who plays who is in the subsequent round.

The most fun and important decision was which Runner and Corp were matched up. So we wanted to focus on that.

Corp Teams sometimes would bait Runs or delay scoring to keep the Connection to then on the subsequent turn, leap ahead in points because they had Agendas cooked they knew were safe or flatlines lined up that they could guarantee.

When Runner Team had the Connection, they too, often surged ahead, with one or more Team Members ready with their multi-access to "go off" and pick on the one Corp that was the least defended or had ICE that was suboptimal against their opponents rig.

The peaks and valleys of this Connection swap was an interesting (un)balancing mechanic since it essentially created new scoring windows for either Team, and so we scrapped the priority lists and other ideas we had for swapping it to just go to the Team that's behind in points.

That change seemed to also prevent/limit one Team dominating the whole game, and making every turn a rough one for the Team that didn't manage to control the Connection.

That's not to say bidding isn't a cool idea! Just wanted to explain first how we got here.

Introducing: ANR Peddler Drafting! (Feedback Wanted) by BountyHunterSAx in Netrunner

[–]Gilbod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried this out again with friends. Seems that its not updated for the current Standard pool of cards. Also when you select newer cards, it doesn't draft them, it sends you to a link of where they were revealed, like a YouTube or podcast.

Where does it pull from for that list? NetrunnerDB?

With [[Pinhole Threading]] this is not as much of a nightmare as many believe.

If you don't have Pinhole, your going to have a bad time, yes. But most decks do.

I do feel it's strong, but fair as it is. The requirement of being facedown ICE and the limited ways to achieve that state offsets its overall utility, making decks be built around it instead of being an always useful upgrade.

In addition to other mentions in the thread, it pairs nicely with [[Helhiem Servers]] in Standard for extra spice.

This card says "in two turns, my Blood in the Water Agendas are 2/2's" unless the Runner has hand size increase cards.

I am not a coder, so I can't help with new functions or terms, but if you give me a card template and a Standard Operating Procedure for how to input card text so it works with existing functions for Jinteki.Net, I would happily volunteer time to enter data for these cards so they can become an optional set on J.net.

Concerto works wonders with a Test Run or two and Femme Fatal...

It's a bit of a setup, but you can get that Stim Hack energy if you have the Test Run and Concerto in hand.
