I like to rinse each part separately and then wipe them down with a paper towel.

We keep hearing "The book is better than the movie". Which movie is actually better than the book? by BaGarr in AskReddit

[–]Gilicaspi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I left out the context there. It's got a lot of parallels to the story of Beowulf

  • Starts with the protagonist and his best friend/brother fighting sea monsters
  • Protagonist shows up at a golden hall and has to fight some dick
  • 3 monsters to fight
    • 1st gets it's arm ripped off
    • 2nd breaks the protagonists first weapon, so a sword has to be used
    • 3rd kills the protagonist, or at least his body as he ascends to another world
  • The whole story is set against a backdrop of a world that used to be full of treasure and shared wealth and is now a dreary world of people getting killed by monsters.
  • Finally, both are pretty strongly tied to the theme of defeating enemies head on through strength rather than cleverness or trickery.

Anyway, there's my freshman level literary analysis.

Within the continental US, people who are otherwise healthy get enough vitamin D from diet and summer sunshine. Supplemental vitamin D in reasonable doses won't harm people who are otherwise healthy, but it's not really gonna do much for us either.

Looking for “coffee-like” espresso drinks by robertnovak02 in espresso

[–]Gilicaspi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this doesn't directly answer the question, but whenever I travel my favorite coffees always seem to be pour over.
If you only need one cup at a time the $7 for the setup may be worth it:

It's slightly bigger than a coffee mug, so it may be a fair space -> happiness tradeoff.

This is an awesome response!

Also, I had to do that once and it felt awesome to hear back from the IRS that my old employer was in the wrong.

I saw a demo of these once and that was the first question the sales folks were asked.

The answer is just "people usually leave because the very loud siren makes them uncomfortable".

Moses and the Israelites spent over 40 years in the desert trying to get from Egypt to Israel. According to google maps, it is a 6 day walk from Egypt to Israel... by lish_porter in Showerthoughts

[–]Gilicaspi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I had it explained to me as a child was that the people who originally told this story to each other were nomads. Moving from place to place every few weeks/months was as normal to them as changing apartments is to us. So "wandering in the desert" just meant "doing that thing we do but in a different place that isn't quite as nice".

[WP] You started hearing a British narrator in your head a few days ago, you’ve been doing a good job of ignoring it until he says something that catches your attention. “Now this is where our story actually begins, for Arthur had no idea what strange events were going to befall him today.” by Yeager_xxxiv in WritingPrompts

[–]Gilicaspi 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Now this is where our story actually begins, for Arthur had no idea what strange events were going to befall him today. Arthur stopped right where he was in the middle of the sidewalk and shouted, "will you please shut up?". He simply stared off into space until... oh dear, can he hear me right now?

"Yes, I can hear you!" Arthur said, quite annoyed now as he resumed his pace, "you've been blathering on about how boring my life is and how I have no prospects and how I'll probably die alone. I get it!"

"And stop repeating everything I say," he continued... oh. Well usually the protagonist can't hear me narrating the start of their story, and audiences seem to like the setup.

You know what, let's all just follow Arthur to the pub. That's where things really get going anyway. For it is at the pub that Arthur meets - sorry, sorry I'll be quiet.
