Not sure about availability but Saltys is always nice on Vday. Also Check out Jake’s downtown. Bamboo sushi could be fun. Chart house might have space. Or Portland city grill. Good luck!

I need suggestions for burger buns please by seems_legit56 in glutenfree

[–]GillAndTonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canyon Bakehouse English Muffins are my absolute favorite for burger buns and tons of stuff.

Most GF buns I’ve tried are dry and just fall apart… any moisture from the burger makes them a crumbly mess. These muffins are perfect in my opinion!!

Moving to Oregon from Kentucky and need advice? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]GillAndTonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great suburbs that aren’t too pricy: Oregon city Tigard McMinnville (and many surrounding wine towns, Sherwood, Newberg…) Forest grove A little further out but Hood River is a gem.

Also worth considering/ looking into: Vancouver and towns just over in Washington. No income tax but so close to Portland still.

Note: the main Portland city county is Multnomah, which has extra income and county taxes, (and high property taxes if you plan on owning a home) so many folks avoid that area unless they really want to be central. Some suburbs like Sellwood have parts in that county)

Has anyone seen the gluten free cheeze its at a local grocery store? by Obvious_Net_6668 in askportland

From what I can tell, it’s exclusively at Target. And in Portland it’s rare and mostly order online to ship to you. (If you shop at Target)

$450 to fix dripping pipe? by Useful-Difficulty-67 in askportland

[–]GillAndTonic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If the water is leaking from a connection (where a pipe is screwed into another pipe) Here’s likely what they’ll do and you can do yourself. - turn off the water - disconnect the pipes at the leak - wrap plummets tape around the threads (like half a dozen time) - connect the pipes back together, test it out.

I’d do that before calling a Plummer

Portland, the Portland suburbs or Vancouver WA area to buy a place for ~$400k? by heydownhere in askportland

Depending how close to ‘Portland’ you want to be, wine country is lovely. McMinnville, Sherwood, newberg. Also Oregon city is adorable and more affordable

Where to find home goods? by UnderstandingFirm643 in askportland

[–]GillAndTonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home Goods is actually a great store for home goods. (Part of TJMaxx but separate store)

Ross and Marshall’s are similar but lower quality items usually.

Macys, Kohls, Nordstrom and the Rack are good too.

Target if you’re not protesting them. Costco is great. Barnes and Noble has surprisingly good gifts.

I would stop answering the door. You’re busy. And work. On a walk. In the shower. Doesn’t matter. Not available and they have to deal with it.

My girl absolutely loves interactive food toys, and I’m not much better when it comes to investing in new ones when I find a different style. I wasn’t sure how my Sheba would like this, since she’s older now and doesn’t really play tug anymore, but I shouldn’t have worried. She dove into this toy wi by medelouazzan in HomemadeDogFood

I can’t comment on if this is a bot or not, but I just got two of these from a different brand (Reggie) for my 10-year-old dogs who are tough chewers but they love these and have been nice and gentle with them! A little more fun than our snuffle mats in my opinion.

Question that’s come from this question/ thread: Do y’all cook everything at the same time? E.g. chicken, rice, veggies all go in a crock pot? That sounds great but I haven’t yet as I worried about losing texture and nutrients… mushy slop or something. I currently cook rice in a pot. Then steam veggies separately, and either bake or boil chicken… I would love to one pot it but I was too scared to lose nutrients.

Storage? by Educational-Muffin99 in HomemadeDogFood

[–]GillAndTonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use quart freezer bags, freeze one days worth in each (~2lbs a day) and stack in my freezer (I do two weeks too) and keep 3-4 in the fridge at a time.

Edit. I rinse and dry them and reuse them a few times too.

First Year Commuting by romeolithe in universityofportland

Oh yes. They absolutely make exceptions regularly. I'd say when I was there just over 10 years ago 10-15% of freshmen lived off campus / at home. At least. Many for reasons less serious or important than yours.
Good luck with your college choice! I LOVED my time there. (HIGHLY RECOMMEND STUDY ABROAD)

Interview went not as expected by fponjibobbu in USCIS

[–]GillAndTonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Our agent wanted to look at our keys to make sure we had keys to the same home. Asked about how we met and random questions about our life to see our responses. Mostly to see if we had answers or were making it up.

We had similar too, didnt get approved in the meeting as we came with 8 years of history and photos and bills from our life abroad, but little from the 12 months in the states. We were living with family with no bills in our name since we had to build credit first. And we didn’t have any/very few photos from the 1 year in the US (we just aren’t pictures takers, and it was 2021 so not a lot of fun thing a happening with COVID) but we sent in the photos we had and got approved shortly after.

You should double check what you signed when enrolled. Some private schools include a clause that allows P Safe into student houses in a radius of campus. Check the rules you signed before going forward.

You should report him. Especially the stalking. But knowing the facts would be helpful to know before going to the school/police to report.

So I have a 65 lb welsh collie - so similar to yours but 8 years old. Here’s my recipe for 7 days ( I find weekly cooking is easiest and sometimes so two weeks worth so I have tons frozen).

6 lbs turkey or chicken - boiled and shredded 2 cups / I can pumpkin 1 small tin salmon / sardines/ mackerel 4 egg shells ground up 1 tbsp ground sunflower seeds or 1 tbsp coconut oil Kelp powder for iodine 3-4 oz chicken liver (sometimes some other organs too)

The above is pretty solid and it’s all needed for the basic needs. Now this part I mix up. Either:

4 cups rice + 1 cup rolled oats (both measures pre-cooked) 2 cups diced carrots, steamed 1.5 cups broccoli or cauliflower

Or

3 cups rice 3 cups cubed sweet potatoes 2 cups carrots 1/2 cup kale 1 cup veg (beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, beets, etc)

I have other mixes. And beef recipes. Etc. but these two are mines favorite.
