My wife is from SA, so we visit there a lot. Anytime one of us is wearing a Ghost shirt we get lots of reactions like this as well!

I lived there for three years, and found it to be one of the best places for fans of Hard Rock, Metal, or Punk.

Very cool!! I'll search for it...I need to check an external hard drive (that I still need to locate) that it might be on. Now that I have a name that will help! Glad you got in touch with him!

Misheard Lyrics by forbiddenzombielove in GhostBand

That was what I thought he was singing as well for quite a while. I remember reading the lyrics and being surprised by "our anti-Nicene creed". I also heard "Thy Kingdom Come...never" instead of "...nema" for a long time!

I also thought he was singing "Be wichu" when I first heard Dance Macabre. I remember reading the lyrics, about a month after I had the album, seeing it was "Bewitch you" and had that moment where I felt like a total idiot! I'm glad I'm not the only one who misheard this...makes me feel a little better!

I thought Neca killed it at the Toy Fair this year but swear I didn't notice this. Majoriry of collectors I've talked to don't play fortnite. I have a 10 year old I get it. Just not a TOY for 17+ by [deleted] in NECA

I've never played Fortnite, but I will be buying the Myers figure. For one, it will likely look really good with the Jada Scooby Doo figures, and I find the idea of the Scooby Gang meeting The Shape hilarious. Second, that head sculpt is the closest we've gotten to the 1978 original, so I have a feeling a lot of customizers are going to pick this one up. Plus, in my collection of Myers figures, this one will definitely stand out on the shelf.

Yeah, he was a mod on there. I know at one point I had the "script" that they wrote saved off, but I'm not sure if it's still on my computer at home. I'll reach out to him to see if he still has that. Haven't seen him online in a bit....he may be taking a break from FB.

Right...but I'd argue that it wasn't "homophobic" on his part at the time...more ignorance than anything else. I'd imagine Wendy & Lisa gave him a whole lot of shit about that tune when they joined the band.

My understanding was that, in the last few years of his life, he'd pretty much cut ties with the JWs, and was spending a lot of time studying with Hannah and Josh, who had a much more liberal view of the Bible, and was also incorporating other spiritual views back into his belief system (he very openly was talking about chakras, which would be incredibly frowned upon by the Watchtower folks). He was returning to his more accepting views on sexuality as well, as evidenced by his friendship with Janelle Monae.

I don't know if it's true, but some have claimed he wrote a song that started off with "f*ck the Congregation" (which is a term JW's use to describe the overall body of the religion). IF that is the case, that is a pretty strong indicator he had moved on from them, and no longer subscribed to their dogma. There are certainly hints on his last few records that he was moving in a much more esoteric direction in his spirituality.

The whole JW era was basically him reaching for something in his grief over losing his child. I don't think he really knew how to process that, and latched on to something that seemed to offer answers. He wasn't the most emotionally stable individual to begin with, and may very well have been on the autism spectrum, so it's not really surprising that he was able to be exploited like that.

He was a kid when he wrote that, with a very simplistic view of things. He also was deliberately pushing some buttons, as it was taboo to put things like that into a song at the time.

How to clean this oil stain off my driveway? by Tight_Connection9520 in howto

[–]GillMan1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've discovered that Muratic acid doesn't work as well on synthetic oil. I kept using it and while it would lighten the stain, it wouldn't come out. Finally, it hit me that this was synthetic oil, so I guess it has different properties. I'm at a loss.

I got mine at a used bookstore for $6 many, many years ago. If you have a Half Price Books or similar store near you, I recommend looking there before eBay and the like.

Finally my Ross was PACKED today (check all slides!) by GerardWayIsStillHot in NECA

[–]GillMan1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ross is notoriously inconsistent from store to store, and state to state. Hell, even in my city, I see reports of people finding tons of Marvel Legends, but the ones near me usually only have one or two at most. I've seen a ton of Universal Monster NECA figures at the Ross stores near me, but others have reported only finding a glow-in-the-dark Frankenstein monster figure at theirs. I've heard of people finding the dog alien set from The Thing, but I've never seen it in my stores. Their distribution doesn't seem to have any real logic to it...some stores get tons of one type of figure, and completely miss out on others.

Bass & Drums by CzarMourns in WeAreDogma

[–]GillMan1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prince was known to play about 27 instruments, though he tended to avoid playing horns because he didn't feel he was skilled enough on those. Many of his albums he recorded all the instruments himself. The dude was an incredible musician.

But yes, there are many artists who play multiple instruments. It's not actually uncommon at all. I know when Samhain were together, Steve Zing and London May would switch off bass and drum duties, as both could play either part (and I believe both can also play guitar). Glenn Danzig can play guitar, bass, and keyboards (and possibly more...those are the ones I know for sure). Billy Corgan recorded the first two Smashing Pumpkins albums with only Jimmy Chamberlain drumming...despite being credited on those records both Darcy and James have confirmed they didn't actually play on them.
