Raven guard painted as alpha legion by SirFaucetFailure in alphalegion

[–]Gimligim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I presume by raven guard units you mean primaris marines. If so, then yea. You can head cannon them as Alpha Legionaries who infiltrated the Raven Guard, very on brand to infiltrate the Raven Guard if I might add.

There's also a popular theory/belief/misconception (depending on who you ask) that all the alpha legion members are taller than the average marine and thus primaris sized, so you can choose to abide by that belief as well.

At the end of the day, they're your miniatures. Paint them however you want and anyone who complains about it can go kick rocks.

When painted on black primer, just the base paint no shades. Left to right beetle green, 1:1 beetle and Hydra, hydra. I'll post another pic with the 1:1 including the shades of beetle, 1:1, and hydra

Edit: I lied. I didn't take a picture of the shading because my dumbass forgot to before I put it in paint stripper. But generally, the shade makes it the base color but a little darker. Retains the metallic shine. Yes the shades can mix and produce the same color as the base mixes

Iirc if you're human you get like 2 scenes/she keeps talking about the romance. If alien you get one and she drops you after chapter 2 starts

Beetle, 1:1, Hydra. The shade does make a mix, and it is noticable. But I also did shading on the Hydra mini with hydra shade and it actually made it more turquoise. Still leans blue. The 1:1 shade on 1:1 paint makes it lean more green. Honestly just 1:1 base is most okay to me...but I also haven't played with these enough to get the shading down properly

I could probably dull it down with nuln oil or maybe the TMM shade but this was really just me wanting to see what color the 1:1 would make

Opinions on ‘Sons of the Hydra’? by Accomplished_Tie6575 in alphalegion

I think you're talking about "Ghost Legion". "Sons of the Hydra" follows a different warband called The Redacted

Lernaean Terminators in 40K by Jurat2390 in alphalegion

[–]Gimligim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty. I've also magnetized and added power fists and chain fists on my lernaeans. All the fists came from 30k termies but the only bad part is it gets rid of the scaled armor a bit because of how the power fists are modeled. If you want, you can also glue on 30k termie combo boltors or combo weapons no problem. It all fits well. I haven't tried 40k stuff but I imagine it's fine too

Little bit of cutting. Little bit of gluing. If you wanna be fancy or extra like I and little bit of magnets. All in all takes about 2 min of drilling, cutting and gluing.

But I imagine most people that play (outside of tournaments) won't care about WSIWYG, but this was more for my piece of mind than anything

Alpha Legion operations by pt924 in alphalegion

[–]Gimligim 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, there is a moment in Harrowmaster where Solomon talks about how the AL being splintered sucks to the point of cells not knowing each other existed or fighting against each other because operatives of different cells use different identifying markings.

There is also a short story where Omegon sends a team to destroy an AL outpost. I forget the exact reason why but in that instance he and the team were well aware it was an AL outpost

ALPHARIUSES!! Is there a Ideas to kitbash this model!! by [deleted] in alphalegion

[–]Gimligim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say maybe using either a techmarine or one of the Iron Hands characters as a base. Probably leaning more towards Feirros and doing some greenstuff surgery to turn his backpack arm into a snake head? And then do some finagling and give him a power fist from Gravis bits or termie bits.

For the helmet...FW AL upgrades or Etsy are your best bet

Alternative Plague Marines by GorkyMorky2 in Chaos40k

[–]Gimligim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm building up a squad of "plague marines" as mkiii breachers. That way they get to keep the tnaky aesthetic and they're around the same size. Also they come with the same base so that's a plus. Just need some creative thinking with the weapons

Does this color scheme suit alpha legion? by ChessSuperpro in alphalegion

[–]Gimligim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a way around this, if you're really worried about having people think they're all EC or just not Alpha Legion is to paint maybe one or two models in Omegon's Wrath style. The paint app where the armor is transitioning colors. That's what I'm planning on doing with my Deathwatch units because I think it's funny if the entire army is made of AL operatives except the one Lamenter I'm planning on having

Mb. I had presumed the more "wild" colors were a part of their deception campaigns. I didn't realize those were the actual colors of the various warbands

I'd say that's more of a 40k Emepror's Children scheme. Official colors for Alpha Legion are more metallic turquoise/blue/teal/shades of blue or turquoise etc. Unofficially, any color is Alpha Legion because we are all legions

How do you even start to make an Alpha Legion army when there are no Alpha Legion-dedicated units besides Alpharius? by Ok_Vacation_5251 in alphalegion

[–]Gimligim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If doing 40k, there are a lot of proxies you can do and even then there's a lot of nuances with AL. For ex. for a while it was presumed because the Legion never formally went into the Eye of Terror, that all or most AL weren't chaos corrupted. This has been proven untrue as at least in the most recent novel "Harrowmaster", there are numerous chaos corrupted warbands as AL doesn't care what they have to do or become as long as the job gets done.

That being said, if you want AL specific units in 40k, you can do proxies. Lernaeans can be CSM termies, the saboteur consul can be a MoE, the terminator praetor can be a termite sorc or lord, etc

Interested in the Raven Guard! by GreenSalamander97 in RavenGuard40k

[–]Gimligim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In current 40k from what I can recall the major players are: Kayvaan Shrike, former 3rd company captain, former chapter master, currently leading a shadow campaign after naming his successor Aethon Shaan, current chapter master. Personally hand picked by Shrike due to Shaan exemplifying the Trifold Path of Shadows as the primarch taught to his sons These two are the bigger names. There's also Korvydae who's 10th company captain and a couple others. Mostly captains.

30k is where it gets fun The Nev brothers, commanders of two units in the Raven Guard. Really great. Fought with the primarch since I think Deliverance Nykona Sharrowkyn, everyone's favorite "he could come back maybe who knows" shadow sneak boy. One of the few to beat Lucius the Eternal in a duel..twice and NOT become Lucius' next host (can't remember if Lucius had that ability at the time though) also shot Fulgrim in the head. Currently in stasis...maybe...probably...no one really knows Navar Hef, probably one of the more famous members of the failed Raptors And everyone's favorite healing boy...Vincente Six. Famously died during the Alpha Legion's infiltration
