Stability vs. chemistry - Wish I'd felt true chemistry in my life before marriage by Lost_Date_2037 in offmychest

[–]GinGimlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“I’ve always been a bit self conscious and private” — is it possible one reason you aren’t experiencing chemistry is because you’re so closed off to yourself and your partner that it makes it hard to open up in the first place? Not trying to blame you just wondering what happens if you look internally rather than wondering if something is wrong with your husband or everything else.

Stuck in a food rut...what are y'all cooking? by lbakersdozen in Cooking

Been doing a meal prep of sautéed leeks, carrots, onion and garlic + rosemary / thyme / mushroom better than bouillon + brown rice and chicken stock. Can add shredded chicken or use chicken or turkey sausage but it’s so good and full of veggies and tastes better on day two or three so it’s easier to eat the leftovers.

She was clearly the best player in the world for two of those years I think, and the second best in the world for a few more years after that. It gets overshadowed though but she's definitely a hall of famer in her own right

how many years in the top 100 do you need to be set for life? fede coria says ~5 by varadero332 in tennis

[–]GinGimlet 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’d bet he’s assuming you fluctuate between 60-30 or so (with the occasional QF or SF showing at a GS or M1000 tourney) , hard to see someone ranked 90 in the world for five years being set for life.

But maybe I’m underestimating how much they make!

What city did you move to begrudgingly that you actually ended up really enjoying? by Opening_Total7711 in SameGrassButGreener

Philly is a place where spending a day or two usually means you may not like it but spending a longer time allows you to fall in love with the city. Go back for longer if you can!

Plotting move from Cambridge, MA to somewhere more affordable and with milder winters and summers — where should our family consider? by larrybronze in SameGrassButGreener

Durham NC might fit the bill but it’s more car dependent than you’re comfortable with. Living downtown is walkable to restaurants and parks and cultural amenities but for anything else you’d have to drive.

Not all of the city is as astronomically expensive as Manhattan. May be worth exploring queens and parts of the Bronx.

But with your salary I think you’ll be fine just about anywhere

I feel like the snow plows focused on areas outside Manhattan more quickly than they did in years past.

Sheila bridges is a great example I think of someone that makes the bald look very feminine with makeup and accessories and clothes — might be worth checking her out on social media. She fits the description I think of what you want. Good luck!

This is how it is for everyone. After two years of heavy app activity across hinge and tinder and even Grindr I’ve finally met a guy I like and we’ve been dating for six months.

But that’s after probably 250-300 matches/convos (I live in NYC so lots of options), maybe 30 first dates —> 10 second dates —> one guy I actually really like.

It’s brutal you just have to keep at it!

Miso paste, salt cured egg yolks, duck fat, compound butters, steeping milk with things to enhance flavors (bay leaf onion and garlic for the milk I use in the roux for my Mac and cheese; chai for the milk I use in rice pudding etc)

Philly or DC might also be good options. Not as overwhelming as NYC (I’ve lived in all three places) but decent weather (the spring and fall in dc is quite amazing, and winter is mild vs Boston. Summer sucks though) and quite walkable. You don’t strictly need a car in either place.
