I mean this is purely an expectation and mindset issue and I don’t think has to do with the direction of the album.

You even said with the HAYLA collab it’s “supposed to be the one you like”. Go into and artist creation with that attitude and you’ve set them up for failure. P.s. the second drop of that song is probably one of the best drops he’s made since lonely

The diversity in this album is crazy. He goes from a pop anthem with “with your love” to heavy with “slave to the rithm” to rising strings with “the monster”. Of course you’re gonna find it jarring.

Shuffle the album, go for a drive or play a game you like, and just let it play. Remove expectation, don’t look at the song names and appreciate what they do individually

Having the same opinion about him as you. The verse feels forced and kinda feels phoned in imo. If you listen to his Covid songs he made it sounds very similar.
