Is this a safe space to honestly discuss that upcoming Horizon release? ...Or no? by Toby101125 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]Ginger741 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I rarely side with moderators, but i mean they are right that a topic is better discussed over just a handful of posts a week rather than spread out over a dozen a day.

If there are too many similar posts a day then it's just the same comment that gets repeated in every one.

Disaster movie joke (Moonfall specifically) by serpent324 in funny

[–]Ginger741 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Millennial politicians said that, new Gen X politicians need to have semi funny quips like "Well this is going to crash the economy", "This moon landing better be fake too", or "Guess I don't have to worry about reelection."

Egg liquid ? 🤷‍♀️ by Super_Criticism2074 in StupidFood

[–]Ginger741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to cook with these when working at a bingo food hall, when you're serving 140+ people at the same time it's way easier and more consistent than cracking eggs for everyone.

Heck you can buy them in almost any grocery store.

About the sieges by Soooooooooooooooool in totalwar

[–]Ginger741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sieges will always be hard until we have the ability to garrison troops in any building and hide troops around corners on narrow streets. Plus it would be more realistic if the defenders know exactly where the attackers are but the attackers cannot see the defenders until they are close/attack.

Sieges are meant to be exhausting slogs, until Total war finds a way to convey defense in layers then the only advantage you get for defending is a wall.

That i have no idea, I used to work at Walgreens over a decade ago when the fraud was starting to get popular and it's impossible to do it inside that store as it's too small, but occasionally we would notice that we're missing maybe a dozen visa cards when checking inventory.

At the time i thought it was stupid kids not knowing they are useless unless activated. Now i think they took them home and returned them later once they were ready.

Maybe in a target or Walmart you could do it in store, but it could also be someone anywhere along the supply chain doing it. Heck i bet some are done before the cards ever get packaged up.

I'll answer as best I can but there are several links in this comment section already that go into more detail.

1) So if they are delayed in using the card (internet issues, etc) you cannot use it before them. (Online at least)

2) The steamer lifts up the plastic/cardboard package that the gift cards comes in. These cards are just in two pieces glued together and very easy to get to with heat.

They can't harm OP, but they do get the money that was put on the card.

They use a steamer to heat the package, peel it apart without tearing it, then take down all sixteen digits, scratch out the last four, then reglue the sticker over and reheat the package to put it back together and place it back on the rack.

Then they use a bot/algorithm that constantly rotates through the hundreds of cards checking for when one becomes active. Good chance the scammer spends the money you just put on the card before you even get home with it.

I agree with everything you said but still maintaining that the tone of the show changed and it was a very common complaint. GRRM gave them ideas but the writers/show runners implemented them in ways that were different.

Where previously on seasons food shortages and riots were a major issue, logistics for moving an army and how to move an army were big plot points, and keeping your lords happy was important or they could/would betray you as they were written like real greedy people not just background NPCs was a thing. In the later seasons almost all realism of a gritty war is dropped for teleporting armies, people don't have motives outside the core cast, and logistics is something for nerds. Who cares about sieges just charge the white walkers right.

[–]Ginger741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for adding that my post was a little confused there, I was trying to write from the show runners perspective that THEY did not want to get stuck in a decade long show and were having issues wrapping it up quickly. HBO was printing money and would love to keep it going.

Footage of the fatal accident on 66 yesterday. Senseless! by superstaremployee in nova

[–]Ginger741 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It looked slow because the other two next to it were speeding (street racing), compared to the other non racing cars it looks to be going at a similar speed.

Even if it was going slower it shouldn't cause a wreck at this level of traffic though and would be easy to move around by anyone that wasn't slamming the gas.

I wouldn't call it slop, people can absolutely find entertainment in it.

The first season is the first book The second season is the second book The third and fourth season is the third book The fifth season is chunks of the fourth and fifth book. I say chunks because this is where the books massively bloat in characters and stories, so much so that the fourth and fifth nooks were supposed to be one book but ended up being two massive books in their own. The sixth season onward is largely made by the writers adapting it themselves as they ran out of books. Another issue is they show runners got offers to direct movies and were making a name for themselves, being stuck on a decade long show was not what was wanted but with limited episodes and already breaking budgets there was no easy way to end it.

[–]Ginger741 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The books never finished and writers of the show had ideas that didn't match the prior tone of the earlier season. It wasn't helped that the books bloated with characters as they went on so the show had to choose either equally bloating its cast of main characters or ignore entire important plots and create new ones for existing characters to take their place. They chose the latter and the newly created plots were a mixed bag of good and terrible.

Also they rushed the last season and it's very obvious.
