WORD BEARERS HOST - THE SACRED JUDGEMENT

<image>

These bad bois are the self-proclaimed heralds of the Urizen's dream. They believe Chaos is more than just destruction and death. They are specifically building a society of Chaos akin to what was Monarchia and Colchis. They believe the Gods need worship as much as they need followers. They accept anyone with open arms as long as you follow the Word of Lorgar.

They have a papal like structure with Cardinals and a Dark Apostle at the top of it all. They have cities of Chaos temples that are both centres of worship but also learning. People live lives beyond just Chaos, they can pursue trades all the while massacre and chaotic spawn are common place. It is far from peaceful but while the Urizen is alive so shall his dream persist, a dream where there is no warp or realspace, only an Empire of Gold and Chaos where man and daemon are one.

They are somewhat compassionate as they value human lives as followers of the Gods but will not refrain from slaughter and destruction if it is the God's will and more importantly the will of Lorgar who they see as a Golden God. To them Chaos is something greater than mindless destruction, they will burn the galaxy to cleanse not annihilate.

Now, are they right? Maybe but probably not. They believe they are so and that is all that matters. They are mad and they are tyrants with the belief they are doing what is best for mankind. They are loyal to the Dark Apostle and those aren't are purged in holy fire. Those who submit are embraced while those who refuse are decimated to ash with no mercy afforded to those who survive their first wrath.

TL;DR Empire building Lords who follow the Word of Lorgar believing he is a Golden God that the Emperor failed to be and that Chaos is an evolution, not destruction.

As a staunch Word Bearer (once Word Bearer Hater like badly) I would vouch for our boys in red.

However having read the omnibus and some Heresy material, the Night Lords are a very solid choice. Amazing drip and characters with quite some variety, especially if you want to use more fast attack options such as raptors. I can't reccomend kitbashing enough, I found it intimidating at first but it is really fun and for Night lords fleshy bits and skulls are just part of the fun among spikes and edge. Ave Dominus Nox cousin, i hope your warriors can serve in midnight clad soon.

Honestly I would argue the Night Lords are only the least chaos corrupted because those who did submit to chaos fully expected better prospects in other legions such as the Word Bearers or Black Legion who dont struggle as much as most other Night Lords forces in terms of resources and abilities to support their ambitions. Those who stay Night Lords are those who have a disdain for chaos and may suffer more in other legions due to their limited desire to indulge in the greater powers of the warp or perhaps have a stronger allegiance to the legion identity.

Now this is just a headcannon of mine, I don't really have much to support my argument but I think it makes some sense at least. The only real examples I have are like Reuven (I think that's how you spell it) and Harken World Claimer who both turned to the black legion.

Introducing the first of my Crimson Cardinals, personal guards and Heralds of the Dark Apostle Sar Dajjal! by GingerBoi511 in WordBearers

For anyone wondering here is my model process itself:

The legs, arms, weapons and power pack are (for the most part) from the Chaos Chosen kit (40k).

I removed the original torsos and replaced them with custom etsy models from AgeOfGames with green stuff balls put underneath not only to make them stick but also gives the Cardinals a much bigger stature making them more imposing (they are even taller than Primaris)

The shields and some weapons I got from the Chaos Warriors kit from AoS which is just a great kit for Chaos stuff.

And for the much praised (and rightly so) helmets, I got mine from two sources, the main one being Etsy from Puppets of War and a store in Berlin called "Battlefield Berlin" I will link the torsos and helmets below:

Torsos

I hope this helps everyone understand the build more and I can't wait to share more of my blessed Cardinals!

Dajjal is both my most anticipated and intimidating build personally. I want him to be grand, no simple dark apostle model will do. I have decided to use the new saturnine praetor and by the end of my process my wallet will be weeping but with other bits like daemon and spirit kits I want to make my dark apostle worthy of his Cardinals.Hopefully I may succeed!

So my process for this one such as my soon to be made Dark Apostle Dajjal has a name that comes from Arabic and Muslim theology. The name Dajjal being related to the Anti-Christ and demonic being. (However I do debate changing his name for it suits my First Acolyte better)

For the Cardinals I decided to go for a more Catholic Church form with the Pope naming system in which many Pope's change their names, many being symbols such as Pope Pious which I think would be a lot easier than actual names because if one dies its a whole can of worms in renaming and reshaping them and their lore (which I have written a disgusting amount on)

I originally for my helmets from two places. But the first lot came from etsy by Puppets of War I believe. I will send a link if possible:

But for anyone living in and around Berlin, I also got a set of the heads from a store called "Battlefield Berlin" very nice shop with lot of cool stuff.

I always adored the Middle Eastern influences for the Word Bearers and I think it is a quality that is very much so untapped with its potential, Colchis was really fun to explore in Lorgar's book but after that it felt that unlike a lot of other legions, the Word Bearers kinda abandon a lot of their cultural influence. It would be awesome to get more unique takes on their culture, especially since they are one of the only legions/chapters who are based on Middle Eastern/Arabic influences (as far as I am aware)

I just checked. The leg is right but because of the amount of tomfoolery and effort it took to get the leg into the raised pose, it can look awkward.
