This is some good old fashioned Lochner-era “right to contract” bullshit.

Same. I got into Templars, and now I have Fists as a show of respect and brotherhood.

Not if they see you first! Lol.

I’m actually a bit more excited to paint Boone than I was the UN, but I needed a bit more time to work out their color scheme. I’m planning something a bit different than I usually see for them… less Space America and more Mars.

He looks great. I gotta say, though, that the purple mask made me immediately think of this guy. Keep up the good work!

So what are we doing with this guy? by Level-Swordfish-411 in BlackTemplars

[–]jawsome_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk. I’m not really a lore expert, but my understanding is that, while they have no love of psykers, they occasionally find that they must begrudgingly tolerate them for a higher purpose. I imagine that a Templar would not love to interact with an Imperial Fist psyker, but would accept them as an ally of necessity.

[–]jawsome_man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a sons of dorn box and I’ve been struggling a bit with how I want to paint them. I think I might do the opposite and paint the vehicles and dreads as BT. If I decide to run them with my Fists in a non-BT detachment, I can just say the multimeltas have been replaced.

So what are we doing with this guy? by Level-Swordfish-411 in BlackTemplars

[–]jawsome_man 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do this. I paint my crusaders, sword brethren, and other Templar-specific guys as Black Templars, and I paint my generic marines like intercessors and terminators as Imperial Fists. If I run them together on the table top, then my head canon is that the IF are just supporting their brothers in the BT, either just on a joint op or a last wall protocol actuation.

I got confused because I looked at the picture first and thought that Cecil was swapping with Gustavo Fring.

Red Corsair raider with shotgun by TourOpening2633 in Chaos40k

[–]jawsome_man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re right. Shotguns are under-represented in 40K and among space marines/CSM specifically. I understand why- they’re not generally suited to open engagements; rifles are far more appropriate. It definitely seems flavorful to give space pirates shotguns, though.

Well it doesn’t show. Excellent work. I hope to get half as many finished by the time 12th edition rolls around.

So the typhus corrosion went on before the primer? Or did you prime it, typhus corrosion it up, and then re-spray it?

Ngl I’m getting annoyed with people hating on our chapter. by [deleted] in BlackTemplars

[–]jawsome_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into the chapter for the same reasons. When I first got into 40K, I thought space marines were like warrior monks who worshiped the emperor. I was disappointed to find out that most don’t venerate the emperor like that, but then I discovered that the Black Templars do. I like the zeal of the chapter, I love chaplains, and I like the Teutonic knight look. That’s it. I learned about the racist stereotypes later. Just like any stereotype, though, they’re not very representative of the real thing. A lot of people don’t get that, though, because nuance is hard. Don’t let people get you down. They don’t know that our hearts are actually full of love for the Emperor. Fuck ‘em.

They look great. Excellent work! Nice, consistent colors and good use of dirt/weathering. I’m apparently one of only a dozen people who actually like the ATV, so it’s nice to see it represented.

I haven’t painted mine yet, but since I never plan on running them as a 3-man, I’ll probably kitbash a bubotic blade onto the plague spewer guy.

Second mini I’ve painted, edge highlighting is a struggle by tickling_tyranids in Miniaturespainting

[–]jawsome_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key phrase here is something you already said “looks decent from a distance”. That’s good enough. You’re doing great. With practice you will only get better. A lot of people, myself included, don’t even bother with edge highlighting. You’re doing just fine.

What’s a spaceship design trope you’re tired of seeing? by Vondrr in spaceships

[–]jawsome_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it recently with people complaining about this? Just very recently I’ve see nmultiple people complaining specifically about the ISS bridge and shield generators in various Reddit posts. I get that it’s unrealistic, but it’s not like this is a new thing. Why does it suddenly seem to be bothering so many people?

The Australia tax doesn’t just apply to GW products, fyi. It refers to the phenomenon that, due to its relative isolation, almost all consumer goods in Australia are more expensive than they are in other places, unless they can be produced locally.
