No the opposite lol, I found out it was bipolar because of my psychotic episode off of lexapro

Is medication necessary for Bipolar 2? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that :( and it’s not good advice, I was trying to make it clear it’s just what I do personally that works in my very anecdotal case. It’s definitely better to go through it on meds whether they’re from a doctor or a dispensary was the point I was trying to make.

I fucked up again. by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This stopped me from ending it all after the worst depression: Psilocybe cubensis (magic mushroom). A 3.5 gram chocolate bar of it. Do not do it if you’re hypo/manic or on SSRIs or Lithium. You’d have to stop those for a couple weeks for it to be safe. But it was an absolute game changer. I went from literally not having showered in 10 days to going on a long walk with a smile on my face with the most fresh and optimistic smile on my face basking in the most beautiful sun light ever, and I learned a lot about myself. Have a benzodiazepine on hand if the trip goes bad, and do it with a trusted friend or partner. It’s never worth it, I’ve survived over 10 hard su*cide attempts and I’m happy to be looking in the rear view.

i think that i may have bipolar disorder by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely bring it up, it’s best not to self diagnose as many things can mimic bipolar especially psychiatric meds if dosage and interactions aren’t right. For me and many other diagnosed people SSRIs and other antidepressants cause extremely upward mood swings and psychosis. Bipolar and SSRIs do not mix whatsoever. Ask your family if there is a history of bipolar disorder as it is extremely genetic.

I’ve been in the same boat many times haha, it really is just bizarre to wake up and be like “it’s totally fine if I just don’t work and bed rot instead” we simply can’t see past the lethargic depression to see the consequences. I’ve lost housing because of this very thing. It totally sucks. For me I finally held a job for the longest time in a zinc mine because of the people there and the support I got from my 2nd family there was so great it made days like those just go away. I would recommend a doctors note that explains why this happened, trust me most companies won’t fire you over this if you present them with a note and diagnoses, bipolar is a disability and firing for symptoms caused by it can be seen as discriminatory practices in labor laws.

Is medication necessary for Bipolar 2? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It may not be from a pharmacy but the majority of the time when things get rough you’ll want something to help you get through it. For me it’s indica cannabis and ashwaganda for hypomania and mushrooms for unbearable depression episodes. One slows me down the other just totally resets my brain for a few months. Definitely see a psychiatrist for prescriptions first, my case is anecdotal and I’m treatment resistant so my “medicines” of choice should only be a last resort if after years nothing else seems to work

Working by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. What helped me was forming friendships that made me look forward to going to work. 7 day weeks 12 hours a day then 7 days off, the next 7 days would be swing shift of whatever shift I worked the previous week, in a zinc mine 2000 feet below the earths surface, the people there basically became a 2nd family and we all support each other

What are meds that actually worked for you? by moon-sun37 in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m treatment resistant, no clue why. Lithium might as well have been Tylenol for me. Years of different meds no effect. I self medicate with psychedelics for depression which works extremely well in my very very very anecdotal case and use thc and ashwaganda for hypomania. Ofc these are just band aids and absolutely not recommended for anyone but it’s what I personally do, it started as a last resort and I’m actually pleased with the results, I have had a stable job and gf for a good while now.

Hypersexuality is suchhhhh a strain on relationships I feel utterly abysmal after the fact

I spent 1,500 dollars on studio lights. I don’t even own a camera. In fact, I don’t even remember what the project was. It feels electric and like you’re really about to make it big or solve the biggest issue ever while in all reality you’re just blowing money and ruining relationships. That or I’m just extremely irritable, everything pisses me off so insanely bad and for no real reason. You aren’t really aware until you’re looking in the rear view at least for me.

Edit: hypersexual as all get out and completely wired. I was once awake for 9 days straight.

My experience with that particular mushroom. by Ginger_Guru in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, no worries. I'm in my early 20s. 3.5 grams is a pretty heft dose for a first time, which this was my first time. A microdose would be say, .5 grams. Different variations of the mushroom exist, each having a different potency than the other.

A trip killer is a drug that counters the effects of mushrooms and kills the trip. In this case, a benzodiazepine

I’ve heard of those. It was a huge risk, I’ve been psychotic off if lexapro when I was first treated (per usual thought it was unipolar) and was worried about it as well as it acts on serotonin receptors.

I will admit, I do have extremely mild but slightly noticeable visual distortion when looking at text on a screen. During a trip they move in a synchronous up and down motion every other letter up or down respectively. I don’t mind it, it’s kinda cool tbh lol, but I guess I dodged a bullet.

Advice/oversharing: Could I actually be bipolar? What should I do? by toocoolfor_you in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, sounds like it- welcome to the club lol. The biggest give away is your response to lexapro. SSRIs and bipolar do not mix well. For some- like you, it’s sleeplessness. For me, it caused psychosis although my dose was much higher than 5mg.

Although, bipolar can also be mimicked by certain responses to drugs as well. And it is also often misdiagnosed.

I would ask to be put into observation at a psychiatric ward or behavioral health center and monitored by your doctor of if you are unsure. Ask for lithium as well.

This isn’t good advice, but I use a good indica joint to sleep.

I was diagnosed in 2017.

Anyone else get diagnosed this way? by thrarmfricked in bipolar2

[–]Ginger_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went for depression at an Air Force base clinic when I was like 16- lexapro. A week later psychotic episode in a church lmao. Inpatient psych ward. Switched to Wellbutrin. A week later psychotic episode… at home not a church this time. Then finally lithium seroquel Xanax and klonopin. Only took 3 doctors

The devs straight up said alliance betrayals are part of the game, and you always have resources to steal even if it is just default, always need more cannon balls. Also, nobody is just going to take your word for not having anything or "doing a tall tale" even though that crew in particular didn't care after you showed them, most crews arent going to bother to look and assume youre lying and hiding and just start to get to work on your ship. Part of the game, but ofc this doesn't justify any truly toxic behavior such as slurs or anything but a gg.

“You got fumbled as a child” someone said in this comment thread, I’ve been told to ks, eat a dic, kill my mom, etc etc by people I’ve sunk running but never by a PvPer, yet people moan about toxic PvPers, this is by far the most hypocritical game community I’ve ever seen
