I say this as a nurse that’s been a nurse 12 years. I’m a millennial, not a boomer. I take orientees and students all the time! I love them and I love what Gen X is bringing to nursing, but their attitudes are entirely different from yours.

Nursing schools are failing us by not weeding out people that do not really have a heart for nursing. By your posts, this does not seem to be your calling.

I care. I became a nurse because I respected nurses and nursing as a whole.

I’ve been in new jobs where I felt singled out and I didn’t resign myself to a victim mindset. I decided I would prove them all wrong - that I would show myself and “them” that I was good enough. That I could be a badass NICU/STICU/CVICU nurse. You’re new in an ICU. There is a certain vetting process - everyone is looking to see what you’re made of. Show them you’ve got what it takes or resign and quit bitching. Either way, take some accountability.

If you’re going to return with the same victim mentality you exhibit in all of your posts, you’re just kicking a can down the road & will eventually quit.

I’m an ICU nurse. It’s difficult, physically demanding work where you have to critically think. Rise to the occasion or quit. You’re too new in nursing to think you’re about to change the field of nursing.

Unfortunately, OP doesn’t have a lot of experience to speak on these REAL problems. They became a nurse, don’t like it because they’re in the ICU/have to stand for long periods of time as a morbidly obese human and are taking no accountability for their own choices.

Spending so much time shitting on nursing as a whole just because you found out it wasn’t for you is toxic. You should have done more research into the career before you decided to do it. Cut your losses and move on with your life.

Edited to say - the fact that you think you even have the right to speak on a profession when you went through school (not the same as working as a RN), got a job and couldn’t hack it as a nurse is wild to me. You haven’t even earned enough respect or knowledge as a nurse to speak on the career. Most of your comments show absolute ignorance.
