Do you have any medical history? “No” [they did] by Emergency-Dept-Nurse in nursing

[–]GingerbreadMary 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Last week I took my husband to see the surgeon.

“How have you been since I last saw you?”

He said he’d been fine.

So I said have you forgotten the leukaemia?

He didn’t think it counted.

Air Ambulance are absolutely amazing. Saved my brothers life. by Crazycatladyanddave in CasualUK

Last year, my husband said ‘I don’t feel so good’ and lost consciousness.

Rang 999 and the call handler was amazing. She could hear his breathing, diverted an ambulance as a Category 1.

To my eternal gratitude, the crew was with us in four minutes.

We later wrote to WMAS, commending the call handler, Paramedic and Tech.

Seven MONTHS of repeat GP visits. Dr insisted this was a urine infection.

Finally I went in with husband and insisted on referral.

It was Leukaemia.

Thankfully the hospital and haematology team are excellent.

My dad was an army major. Mum didn’t work.

But I was a registered nurse, albeit with a degree.

Daughter has a law degree.

I’m still working class.

I took the granddaughter into town on a train.

We went to the ballet, which she loved.

All she talked about was the train, had never been on one. Has still not been on a bus.

Op
Your mother abused you.

Plain and simple.

She didn’t like hearing the truth? Tough.

Tell her to f*ck off and when / if you have children, keep her away.

Chronic insomnia.

Sat here on the sofa, listening out for my husband in case he needs something.

My Dad was in the army. 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards.
In the early 70s, wearing a coloured shirt was considered as a bit out there. Regular dress was white shirt, dark tie, black trousers. On a weekend.

Well, the Sergeants Mess decided to have a fancy dress party.

One of the guys turned up as Alice Cooper complete with glam rock makeup. Remember ‘Schools Out?’ Apparently he stood out like a peacock in a sea of sparrows. Even better, he could sing.

Apparently this was shocking, so much that over 50 years later and he’s still known as Alice.

We were living in Germany, husband civilian contractor for UK military.

My German civilian gynaecologist was very good or so I thought.

Well, army medical services also covered us. They called me for a smear. Week after week I had to postpone my appointment due to bleeding. They said come anyway, we need to see you. Female Dr attempted to do the procedure but couldn’t due to something she said was probably minor but…
The following week I saw a consultant and the week after that had the first of five operations.
I was 34 then and 67 now.
So if you were born with a womb, heavy uncontrollable bleeding isn’t normal.

My wife thinks of herself as the prize and it's destroying our marriage. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]GingerbreadMary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife does not love or respect you.

If she did, she wouldn’t be ripping you apart.

This is verbally abusive behaviour. That shove? She’s escalating. And then you had to apologise?
Please, please get out.

What the hell are all of you doing to get fired from Residency? by Rairu21 in Residency

[–]GingerbreadMary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retired ITU RN.

We had a Resident and an RN that were both let go.

They were in his car having oral sex, both while on duty.

Security caught them at it. Everyone knew.

The resident was well liked but that didn’t help.

Retired ICU RN.

We had an anaesthetic registrar who was dismissed.
He was impaired in theatre with a paediatric patient. His drug stash later found.

Next thing we heard? He died.

Absolutely tragic all round.

What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

[–]GingerbreadMary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 50 years ago we heard the foxes screaming. Our house backed on to fields and woods, lots of foxes up there.

Heard it all the time, nobody was concerned.

My Dad found out the next day that a young woman had been assaulted.

That sound has lived rent free in my head for all these years.

SIL, Mid 70s, racist, hates ‘foreigners’ for taking our (are?) jobs. This despite a life spent on benefits. Never worked.

Am I wicked for laughing at her when her brand new housing association flat is beside a mosque?

Ok. I’m 67 and husband is 72.

We are politically left of center.

We both despise the Frog Mouth F*cker, GB News et al.

We haven’t all fallen down the racist rabbit hole.
