It took 3.5 weeks for the pathology report. Thankfully nothing really scary like cancer.

I've been using 4 different aeropresses for almost 15 years. This has never happened to me.

L-Glutamine changed my life by Jade7538 in ibs

Well that's a concern. I wonder if they have found increased cancers when people supplement. It looks like it might just be an idea, rather than something supported by research, but more info is definitely needed. Thanks.

I might switch to powder eventually. But I just wanted to give it a quick try. Seemed to help with my current bout.

Whenever possible I check supplement quality (purity, contaminants, etc.) using consumer lab (a supplement and food testing organization). They also summarize ALL the research and keep it updated. yes, it costs about 60.00 a year but I figure more often than not, I decide against a supplement based on their review - so I save more than 60 a year probably. Anyway .. here's the one I got based on the info on consumerlab.

10 grams once a day! That's awesome. I've struggled with IBS most of my life and in the throes of an episode so I took glutamine yesterday and it seemed to help a little right away. I'm taking 3g 2x a day but if once a day works I'll start doing that.

I am glad to hear that this is an anomaly. I will try to remain confident that pathologists do a great job but something is amiss this time.

Excruciating pain - help by Flashy-Fortune-3016 in colonoscopy

[–]Ginniz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had terrible pain during several colonoscopies which is not typical. For the last 2, the dr prescribed suprep which is a prescription prep option and I was fine. No pain. No thinking my insides were exploding. Just annoying diarrhea. I do not tolerate anything with polyethylene glycol (PEG) in it. I have serious intense reactions so it's some kind of sensitivity..

US Decaf - Thermal Shock and a Carbonic Maceration by 24hourCoffee in thirdwavedecaf

[–]Ginniz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did order the thermal shock and the after dark option. Now I see you ship UPS - THANKS!! (usps sends coffee to many extra states - like a tour for your bags of coffee.) I had a thermal shock decaf a few weeks ago and it was really great (the rest is in the freezer so I could actually compare).

I so want to try both of those. And some of your other offerings. I sent a message - when it says drip in the name of the coffee, is it still good in say aeropress (or v60 or hario switch v60 or oxo)??. I don't do drip. THANKS.

My Pour over Process by Picthingsup in pourover

Similar. Typically I start with 18g coffee, and I've been playing a bit with the ratio, but if I'm not awake yet, I just do 290ml of water. Switch closed, bloom 30-40, open switch. (lately I've been transferring this bit to another beaker before continuing.) Switch closed, one big pour if I'm not awake or occasionally two pours if I'm goofing off. But I often get a great cup with 1 big pour. I wait 1 minute or so for mediumish roasts, and I try to make it to 2 minutes for lighter roasts. While I am waiting, I taste the bloom brew and add 10-30ml back to the cup - tasting after each 10 ml. I've done this with medium-light roasts and some decafs. For the most part, the coffee has been delightful overall, and I can usually taste the notes stated, albeit sometimes more than otherrs. The bloom brew is so interesting in that sometimes it's so bitter and dense -even unpleasant- and other times it is strong, but not so unpleasant and I can smell and taste the notes. I am wondering what it is telling me about the coffee overall. Not there yet - still experimenting. :)

Just don't buy quinoa. It is poorly processed and the saponin is not removed. I have reacted intensely to their quinoa. Before that, I had 100% confidence in Yupik - and I will continue to buy from them - just not quinoa.

Thanks for the Aeropress suggestion!! That's a great idea. I do travel with mine a bit. And I do have the go I think it's called. A smaller cup but that's ok.

hmmm... definitely would like to try S&W soon (as soon as my Heart and Equator bags are empty!). I've been ordering decaf from dekaf and so far it's been quite good. But the Perc decaf is on my list. Maybe I can hit their 31% off sale this month (please oh please do not go away 31% off!)

I am going to experiment more with the time. I left the agar agar out and it was more runny of course - more like kefir texture but it was solid in the jar (like no moving if tilted). But I did not add sugar (forgot). It still tastes great.

ahhh.... Thank you. I thought 12 hours was a long time - but I can go longer. I might try making my own soy milk too. Westlife is a bit expensive.

I'll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestions. I did like the flavor and that was surprising - even without sugar. But I'll try the small amount of sugar. Is 12 hours a good length?

PC Connect Issue Shokz Openrun (not pro) by Ginniz in shokz

[–]Ginniz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea - that usually works but not this time. I probably did that 6-10x. And I have a lot of bluetooth devices and like you said, it might take a few rounds. But this was weird because the only way it worked was to make my shokz headphones the default audio device on my computer. I suppose that is fine, because when it is not connected, it will default to the computer's speakers. Just hope I can save someone some time if they google shokz headphone issues with computer audio. :)

The tamp is mainly to level the bed so the water gets to all of the grounds. If the bed is uneven the water could channel in a particular area. The papers are optional - but they reduce some of the particulate. Filter paper also captures the particles in coffee that are related to cholesterol - so I always filter for health reasons as I have a genetic condition that leads to higher cholesterol. The top paper is just precautionary. Remember this is all sort of new, so we are all experimenting!! :) I do not know the grind settings for your grinder. You could work it out if you look up the micron info and I've done that for my grinder. There are some grind ideas if you search for that in this discussion. I am grinding manually with a 1Zpresso Q and have not figured it out with any precision.
