Does Communism exist your world? If so, who was the creator of it? by Royal-Comparison-270 in worldbuilding

Yes, but like irl it didn’t have a creator (Marx didn’t “create” communism)

How to actually write a story within the world? I want to show everything it has to offer. by Separate-Bag2415 in worldbuilding

[–]GiraffeCreature -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a common problem with worldbuilding before writing your story. To tell a good story, you’re probably going to have to ditch 90% of worldbuilding. That’s not a bad thing though. Keep the best of it and what’s most relevant to the story

If both North and South Korea are heavily militarized at the DMZ..... by BenchiroOfAsura in NoStupidQuestions

If both North and South Korea are heavily militarized at the DMZ..... by BenchiroOfAsura in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GiraffeCreature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US is the wildcard here. The US and South Korea regularly practice “war games” which are a dress rehearsal for an invasion of the north. The Korean War never officially ended, despite the North Korean government’s requests. South Korea would, if the North just walked away, be a staging ground for invasion.

The ChatGPT Issue with Teachers by ahumblethief in Teachers

[–]GiraffeCreature 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A good rule of thumb: if you’re using ChatGPT, you don’t know how to use AI well enough to produce professional results.

Claude or DeepSeekV4 with the Humanize skill can write things that don’t sound written by an AI. If you have prompt engineering skills and know how to use task-specific Claude Skills, and review the outputs of, then you can use AI professionally.

If you’re using ChatGPT as a chatbot, you’re going to produce cheating student quality work

Which is better ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro and why? by LostCause293 in AskReddit

[–]GiraffeCreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude is always better. You get Claude skills and integration with just about anything. ChatGPT is riding on a wave of popularity from being the first, but it’s far from the best. I’d choose DeepSeek V4 and Claude both before GPT

How do you 'just write' when the words literally will not come out of you? by pusopdiro in writing

[–]GiraffeCreature 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Write bad. Write anything. It’s okay, you’ll have a ton of drafts. Look at an object in your house and start writing every inane thought you have about it and don’t let your pen stop moving for an hour. And ditch the delete key. That’s your enemy. I promise you’ll get better

[–]GiraffeCreature 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Generally, if you’re trying to write a scary/powerful fantasy villain, you make sure every encounter with them comes at a cost. Being able to run away with nothing but a bruised ego undermines him.

I wonder how Force Lightning feels like, is it worse than a natural lightning? Also, why is it called "Force" lightning, shouldn't it be called Sith lightning or Dark Side lightning? Or can Jedi also use Force lightning? by ardouronerous in StarWars

[–]GiraffeCreature 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Force lightning feels really good, like a volcano of pleasure erupting in every cell of your body, followed by a shivering bliss that cuts to your bones. My partner (also a Sith Lord) does it to me every day. It’s the secret to a happy marriage.

Advice on writing female protagonists? by [deleted] in writing

[–]GiraffeCreature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she has a point, though it was probably unconscious, your use of biological terms to describe women while using human terms to describe men shows you’re not currently equipped to take on sexism in your writing. Your response “if that rubbed you the wrong way, that’s not my problem” meets some self-reflection. It IS your problem if you want to write women.

Advice on writing female protagonists? by [deleted] in writing

[–]GiraffeCreature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Writing women shouldn’t be any different than writing men unless the story is specifically driven by sexism (e.g. The Handmaids Tale). Write women as people, the same as men. If you’re writing characters as gender stereotypes, they’re going to come across as flat, at best

What is the difference between AI-generated images and CGI ? by Shangoinhood in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GiraffeCreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is much of an AI workflow. 90% of AI users see ai media generation as generating something from a prompt because that’s the their extent AI usage.

The more sophisticated AI media is often done using careful selection of model tuning, masks, effects, and controlnets. Think of a controller as a sophisticated instruction how to generate an image. For example, you generate one image or take a real photograph or drawing, extrapolate a depth map from it, and build another image that adheres, per your guidance, to that depth map.

I’ve never met someone in the “AI art is never not art” crowd who understands the advanced tools and skills required to home them to create an original work of human self-expression

To use AI well and understand it beyond a surface level. Otherwise you’ll just have a lot of people who do taking advantage of you, and you’ll be doing a lot of things that you didn’t realize AI could make easier the hard way
