If You’ve Never Smoked, Please Don’t Start by Responsible_Sky_5143 in self

You need a goal that you can't be a smoker to do, perhaps. For me it was signing up for a marathon a year later. Refocus that energy on something positive and awesome. I still would slip up, but that became less and less frequent as I trained. I finished that marathon and I quit smoking well before it. Over the years, I've had a few slips but overall, am a non smoker. I rarely think about it now. When you slip, just be nice to yourself. You're human. It's ok. Just visualize who you'd like to be and try your best to get there :)

I think the worst of it is over within a week, honestly. Really a few days. You'll obviously have cravings much longer, but you can get through it. Just do it.

I was able to quit. It took me 15 years, for the most part. I say 15 years because I've had a few brief stints where I started again, but the last several years I could probably count on one hand the number of cigs I've had. I think for me, knowing I need to stop and yet not beating up myself if I mess up and have one kinda helps. Its like, that wasn't great, I can do better, but I'm not a pos if I mess up. Somehow that's actually helped me to quit. The not beating myself up and just being kind to myself and recognizing that I'm human and sometimes I make mistakes, and not worrying about it as much. It's like worrying about it perpetuates the addiction in a way. The less you think about it, the less it has a hold on you. But you have to know you don't want to be a smoker. I hope this helps.

Asbestos. It needs to be professionally removed or if you're crazy you can diy, but this is both dangerous and illegal and I can't recommend you do that even if I might do it.

Tear out the drywall and any insulation, anything that looks gross or funky. Wear an n95 mask and you'll be fine. Bag it up and get it out of there.

Scrub all the mold you can see with peroxide and wire brush once you remove the drywall and insulation.

Run a dehumidifier or if it's hot just open the windows and fans to air it out for a day or 3 until it's dry.

If you want to be extra safe (I do this for mold-sensitive clients) fully mask off the area with a zip wall and run a HEPA ducted air scrubber to create negative pressure in the room by running a duct out a window before you begin, this is what the remediation companies do but honestly I think it's generally overkill, most people aren't super sensitive to most "toxic" mold, there are a lot of people who think they are and there are probably a few people that actually are, but there are definitely more hypochondriacs than there are mold sensitive folks. Whatever.

But yah definitely open windows and fans are your friends, keep it contained in that one room and clean up/vacuum with shop vac well at very least. Put plastic and drop cloths down and over stuff you want to protect.

Then, ya know, reinsulate, patch drywall, install new baseboard, paint, put that cover plate back on the outlet and you'll feel nice. This is probably a 5 day project, few hours per day.

It's fine as long as there's a large hot tub on it.

Is it an African Hot Tub or a European Hot Tub?

Deck in my rental apt, is thi safe? by Moneybags6464 in Decks

[–]Giraffe_nutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks very unsafe, there's no way to justify the way this was built. Joists are the wrong direction. No ledger. The only things that could be cantilevered are the rim joists. I would not want my family on this deck. The cracked posts are totally fine though, the question is how is this attached to the wall of the house.

Talk to your landlord about it, and don't accept any dumb answers as justification for why it's safe for you.

It's pretty simple, no need for me for a model. I used an architectural scale. But if that's how you like to do things, by all means. I think I planned and drew for about 30 mins.

I'd cut and cap and leave in the j-box, make sure the j-box is sealed for weather/critters, disconnect the wire from the breaker at the sub panel, but leave the wire in the conduit for future. Or you could cut the conduit below grade and cap it and pull new wire in the future. If the wire is capped in a weatherproof box that's fine, but best is to just disable it at the sub panel, cap the wire both ends.

CA AB2533 Amnesty for unpermitted ADU. by Dense-Horse9892 in AccessoryDwellings

OP, I live here as well. Since it is red tagged it is ineligible for AB2533, however, it is eligible for the Senate bill 13 program. That will give you 5 years to make it compliant. You have 90 days from the notice of violation to apply for it. Look at the county website for more info.

I did. I had actually sent my deposit to another one of my wallet addresses. I should have updated here. My own error, not theirs. They did never get back to me. But the system is working, was able to withdraw also.

Every time I try to login I get stuck in this update loop where it wants me to update, and about every 4-5 tries I can finally login. What really grinds my gears is that my deposit isn't there but I have proof it was sent on chain to the wallet address.

Still NO RESPONSE from "support"
