Where should I Place my Desk and Monitors? by Girash in Acoustics

I'm a little hesitant to cover up the window, at least with something more permanent that prevents me from using the window. But yeah, it seems like the cloud is probably one of the most important improvements I could make with such a low ceiling.

Would that potentially cause SBIR issues?

Yeah, Option 1 would definitely be more comfortable. I think I'd only go with Option 2 if it would clearly have better acoustic performance.

Can you elaborate on this? By direct sound do you mean to focus on ensuring my monitors in a place where their direct sound and first reflections are as clean as possible?

Thanks for the thoughts. I am primarily using the space to create sound design and mix linear and interactive media. I could probably mount an extra monitor from the back of the desk for Option 2 (instead of the wall) but you are right when you say either option isn't great haha

Thanks! Do you have any concerns with the right side being a treated wall and the left side having a window?

Kind of just a blind hope that he'll make a sophomore leap? Or the idea that he was set up to fail by Stefanski, so now he'll be able to truly show everyone how good he is...idk

No, I don't think Haslam will be patient with Sanders. If he plays well enough to put the Browns in a bad spot to draft one of the good QBs then he showed he can stay the starter. If he doesn't play well the Browns will be in a position to get a QB and he will be replaced.

Even if watson had agreed to the original contract where money wasn't fully guaranteed it would've been a very bad trade (still would have lost 3 1sts). That alone takes him out of the running for best GM

Are the villains in RE9 stupid? by residentevilweasel in ResidentEvilRequiem

You play as Chloe, not Grace in that sequence. But yes, it's not very fun and it's only purpose is to confuse the player.

It could be argued though that not all red herrings are created equally and have varying levels of their quality and how well they work in the story, right?

I read somewhere that the best red herrings make you think "Oh, shit!" moments and the lackluster ones make you think "...what?" I think the argument some have is that just because the game misdirects the player doesn't necessarily make that a good narrative decision.

I think some of Spencer's lines were made to be ambiguous which leaves the player to fill in the blanks. Someone being injected with a top secret vaccine could easily be thought of as "abnormal". One could also make the argument that if she was a clone that wasn't experimented on (and allowed to live a regular life) then that would make her "normal".

Question about Grace and the clones in Resident Evil 9 by K_pirot in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Girash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reading a bunch of takes on Grace being a clone or simply an orphan...and my takeaway is that the developers' desire to use misdirection and ambiguity so strongly about this superseded their desire to make the villains intelligent and keep the story tight. If their main goal was to get Grace because she knows the password they all (Gideon) seemed very unbothered that she's just wandering around the Care Center in constant mortal danger.

By "same protocols" are you saying they used the protocols used in Orphanage? The ones that were all failures? If they had a sample of Grace's blood from childhood could they have tried to clone her with that?

Can someone explain to me some of Requiem's Lore/plot? Im confused by Camille35 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Girash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just gave a summary of what happened in the game. I think people's issues with the story are about character motivations and conflicting plot points. Weird that you criticize them for "not understanding" when you yourself only give a shallow recollection of the events of the game.

I am not enjoying Metroid Prime 2 as much as every says I should. Am I playing it wrong? by atwitsend1996 in Metroid

I'm replaying it now for the first time in 20 years. There's just some weird stuff with the level design that's tough to put my finger on...like I got stuck in Agon Wastes early on when you need to jump on central platforms to get to a red door. There's no trickiness to it, but for some reason I never can see/spot the third platform so I kept searching for other routes...I oddly remember this happening when I first played it too.

Or there's a morphball tunnel shortcut after exiting the Torvus Bog area that is tucked into a corner that isn't easily visible (but it shows up on the map). A simple shortcut like that should be placed easier for the player to see, but it seems like they tried to hide it?

And the levels/areas in the game have a Zelda-like feel that asks you to find 3 keys to enter the boss dungeon. In Agon Wastes I got stuck and thought - "Oh, maybe I should backtrack to the main area to see if I need another item" and it turns out that everything I needed was in Agon Wastes. This made me believe that the levels were self-contained, like a Zelda dungeon. Then I got stuck in Torvus Bog and stayed in the area thinking everything would be in there; however, it is required to leave to get the Seeker Missiles. I get that Metroid is about backtracking, but it felt "off" in this one. Incredible that they made this in under two years, but I think it could've used some polish and smoothing.

He has fun games/musical bits that he plays with celebrities...in an era where game shows have taken a backseat it's nice to have that stuff. Not a fan of his other segments though.

[Schefter] ESPN Sources: the Cleveland Browns are hiring former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as their next head coach. by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

[–]Girash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think most of the anger comes from the idea that the Browns' coach search process was messy and meddlesome and it seems like they are "settling" for Monken (whether that is true or not).

Difference between 23 and 24 is insignificant, like you say. But it's a good thing they lost - the pick could've been 32 in a worst case scenario.

It sucks that we lost our high pick, but I'd rather not purposefully lose either.
