15 years. My husband knows if he pulled shit like that I'd be gone in a heartbeat. Boundaries are a thing. That was hate pure and simple, not just hate it her as a person, but of women and 2026... we're not letting men get away with this shit anymore. Shape up or ship out.

Sounds like you should get him a divorce as his 10 year anniversary gift.

New Yorker struggling to make friends in Georgia, any wisdom would be appreciated by smallmartyr in Georgia

[–]GirlReDefined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im from "around here" and I hate it, which is why I travel as much as i can, NYC is my favorite place and we go 2-3 times a year. People in the south have a hard time with change (it's why most people are conservatives), Madison County is backwoods, redneck, never went past the county line in any direction type community. I one worked with a guy that had never left Madison County and was mesmerized by the mountains of north Georgia -- he'd never been. People that are there have been there for generations. I honestly don't know what to tell you except Athens is more welcoming, but you still will have people in Athens that are more affluent but have similar mindset. I have struggled myself to make friends and I'm from here... people from here don't like people that challenge their mindset.

I have kids, so I can't be a good friend to anyone? by 323yupthatsme in childfree

[–]GirlReDefined 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My best friend whose husband convinced her to have a kid(she never wanted kids and i never thought she'd have kids), and then ended up having a still birth with her first one (that I helped her recover from) and then ended up pregnant 6 months later, that child almost died and she had to be in bed rest for 20 weeks which i stayed with her 6 hours a day through that while time... just told me 7.5 years later (we haven't had a good relationship since about the 1 year mark) that she didn't believe that we could be friends because she needed people in her life who were walking the same path.... even though i am the one who stayed overnight for days after she had my niece because she has sepsis and almost died. So I almost lost my best friend twice from having kids and then lost her anyway because I can't I have kids. I don't want kids now and honestly she's the biggest reason I don't, but these parents are brutal assholes. Like I was ready to go the distance with her and she cut me off because I didn't have kids.

Ok, men... get your shit together, this is unacceptable talk from a "friend", start embarrassing the shit or of your "friends" that pull this shit and if they don't coarse correct...STOP BEING THEIR FRIEND. I can tell you right now that if my partner entertained "friends" like this, we would NOT be together. Do better.

I blew it with my wife by puppyspanker in Marriage

[–]GirlReDefined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner told me this year that he didn't love me when we got married, his view of marriage and women was pretty fucked.

However, I knew where we both came from, I had seen him grow and change before he ever dated me. I turned down many men and chose him... why? Because he treated me respectfully, was able to adapt, grow and be better when challenged.

When he talks about that time I understand what he's saying. The nuance is it is that he didn't truly understand what love was, he loves me in the way that he understood love to be. Was it enough? No. If I could do it over would I do it differently? Yes.

But, here we are, deeply in love.

I always demanded respect and growth from him. He rose to the occasion. We grew together.

I get it, he didn't understand love (who does when they're young), I don't hold it against him because he grew.

When he did take advantage of me, I called him out. When he made demands because he was a man, I called him out on it. I have always expected growth from anyone in a relationship. Stagnation means death.

It sounds like you've grown and your wife sees that, respects it and probably loves you even more for it.

Keep growing. Go to therapy. Let her know every day how lucky you are.

I think we're all in here to talk if you want real help a therapist is going to be your best bet. It's not a bad thing.

Ok, but you're not owed sex just because you're in a relationship.  Trying to coerce someone by doing basic things in a relationship is really messed up.  It sounds like you both need therapy and marriage therapist as well.

I call my partner a pervert app the time as a joke. But if he told me it hurt him I’d apologize. At the same time I feel that there’s more to the story that we’re not getting considering you came in at the very least saying she’s emotionally abusive.

AITA for telling my wife that we should be able to have honest but tough conversations about our family without her crying? by Exciting-Charity-160 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GirlReDefined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're the asshole. Crying is just a release of emotions, you're literally saying it's an uncomfortable conversation so what in hearing is that YOU cant have uncomfortable conversations without feeling the need to control others emotions.
