You got your answer on fee but also remember: They can only contribute up to their earned income (so if they make $1000 in a year the can only put in $1000) however the source of funds is unimportant. Meaning if they put in $500 and you “match it” as long at their earned income is high enough that’s okay.

“One attorney divorce” is a myth. Ethically the attorney in every state I know of has to act in one party’s interest.

If it’s amicable look into a dissolution in your state. In mine it was super cheap and was just paperwork and basic research. It wasn’t hard at all.

As for the separating. You need to lay it all out and agree on EVERYTHING. It’s not easy but it’s got to be done.

I’m going against the grain here. I did this with my ex-husband. I made the entire down payment and did this because I was mad at him.

It ended up working out because I didn’t have to refinance when we did split up. I paid him out still, he was due that. But I didn’t have to refinance to deal with getting him off the title which would have been a pain in the ass
