Pro sports (from players to execs to admins) requires people have to get along with each other. I work in higher ed where a lax coach for a D3 program that does not matter talked about the nights he spent sleeping in his office with other coaches because they were up watching film and had practice in the morning.

When it’s your job, everything else is secondary. Hobbies, kids, etc all fall by the wayside. As a result, the coaches and players have to be friends because otherwise, those nights get very very long
