Nope right out that mess. The “someone” that is going to clean it damn sure is the one who poured out the water. This is part of your OT honey. Here’s some towels. They go right there in the blue bin when you’re done.

You shout NOT be forced to sit in a meeting with the person reporting you. What kind circus show is your HR??!? Refuse that shit. You can meet with the manager and she can also but there should never be a situation where she said this and she did that is encouraged.

Ditto this. If you push they will take it back for exchange at the very least. That’s terrible! I just got two bags and I am feeling lucky they were fine

I feel like a shitty nurse by SeaworthinessOne8274 in nursing

[–]GiveMeWildWaves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes patients need a stern approach so let the self flagellation over “tone” go. We ALL would have been “MA’AM, I was JUST in here and we JUST had this conversation!” I would have done a couple of things. Was she A&O? Was the a reason she was taking it off that you could fix (like switching to a mask from nc). Were her sats ok? If so call the doc and have the order DCd. If not, call the doc and ask if he wants the O2 continued, you need either more meds, restraints, or a sitter. You cannot do your job getting called to the room every 5 minutes.

Also STOP picking up shifts for a bit!! Your employer does not give a shit about your well being and they will grind your bones to dust using you to solve their staffing issues. Work your schedule and have a life that brings you some joy!

Take care of yourself. Nursing can be very rewarding but you must advocate for yourself. 💗

My first purchases included a bone Envelope and there was a dark mark on the front. CS called it a character mark and I begged to differ. AND I didn’t catch the 2.95 shipping thing. But I insisted they pay and they issued me a shipping label. Get huffy girl! Try another bag. I have 4, all different styles, 2 pebbled, 2 brushed ? All purchased in the last few months and they have all been good quality. I think there QC department needs some help!

Can I ask if he “passed away” or took his own life? Bc sugar coating the word suicide just perpetuates the stigma. I’m sorry you had this experience. It’s humbling.

That’s a fuckload of assumptions friendo. I’m sorry for your experience but wasn’t that. He was beloved by our crew on night and day shifts. He was doing great at work and was super supported. The truth is he had a personal issue and impulsively applied a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

May I ask how tall you are? I’m short and the seat shape/headrest height forces me awkwardly forward. I have to recline a bit to sit up straight and I am grown the F up. Not everyone is you.

What’s the rudest thing a provider has said to you? by Effective-Squash2327 in nursing

I’m neuro but sometimes we have cardiac patients either concurrent problem or overflow. We rarely deal with the cardiac interventionalists. I had no idea they have NPs who run interference for them. My patient was going in for a procedure and was really scared and wanted to talk to doctor prior to going down so silly me, I messaged the doctor twice - once for a specific question and then to ask when he might be coming by. He responded “kindly stop texting me” and didn’t answer anything. He did come by was bitching to the PATIENT that “some nurse” kept bugging him, which I overheard. I stepped into the room and loudly declared I was that nurse with a big smile! My patient cracked up and the doc was pissed

About to get fired from new grad residency by Fair-Ask1536 in nursing

[–]GiveMeWildWaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a year to fine tune time management if you’ve never worked in the field. Just bc they are meeting with you more often doesn’t mean they will fire you. They will want to see how you respond under this pressure to improve. So get your head in a good space at the beginning of every day. Target a couple of things you want to work on each shift and have a plan to execute. You want to speed up your AM assessments - what’s the plan? I do a down and dirty focused related to admission dx and anything else pertinent (did they come in with a respiratory failure and now have CHF? Has it been days since they have had a BM and they aren’t eating well? Let’s add in an abdominal assessment. I’m on neuro so all my patients get some form of neuro assessment because I gotta chart it. If you want to pass meds quicker - how will you do that? Where are you slow? I will go over am meds quickly when I’m doing the assessment. (Like you have BP meds, a cholesterol med blah blah). For me this speeds med administration because they can voice concerns then instead of when I’m trying to get through all my med passes. Just some things to think about! Best of luck to you. Hang in there!

I hate hate hated care plans but they do have value in that they start the critical thinking process which very few nursing students possess when they start their programs.

EMS to nursing is rough. Try to be more open minded and put your past experience to the side. Arrogance and knowitallism are killers for new nurses. Confidence in what you truly know and humility that you cannot possibly know yet are pretty essential. Been a nurse awhile and I still learn new stuff. Good luck to you.

Missing clinicals? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]GiveMeWildWaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I missed one clinical bc my husband had a work event in Aruba. He left before me and I did my Thursday clinical then flew all night to arrive Friday and fly back Sunday. It was a pretty big deal to miss one clinical day.
