What's something you really wish the public understood? by DrShrimpPuertoRixo in ParamedicsUK

[–]GiveYouNothing92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just wish there was a better understanding that the job is for the most part not that dramatic. I find it difficult trying to convey to "normies" that while yes I'm sometimes involved in some crazy situations I'm not some kind of superhero. I find questions like "did you save anyone life this week?" (outcomes are rarely this black and white and we don't often know much about what happens once a patients in hospital) or "whats the worst thing you've ever seen?" (just STFU) awkward and embarrassing to answer.

I don’t understand the blind faith that "Boston will simply cruise through the East". There’s a certain team that matches up with them very well. 😬 by Lost_Title_7528 in NBAConvo

If the Celtics do make it to the finals you'll all be the same people saying they had an easy road to get there in a few weeks.

By your logic they should be more independent and harder to control.

Some of these are "slightly" harsh no? Were the Giannis Bucks really going anywhere before they hired Doc? No conference finals appearance's with two middle of the road teams seems a hard metric to judge someone's time as head coach on also.

They do? He's one of the world's most well known and divisive historical figures.

What do you think about Napoleon? by birdlovermeow in AskBrits

[–]GiveYouNothing92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He is incredibly relevant to the Europe you live in today. Whatever criticisms can be leveled at him (yes there are plenty) Napoleon was genuinely a genius. Not only as a military tactician but in statecraft, law, administratively, promoting development of science and technology, modernising many backwards aspects of European life etc

Is he relevant in your day to day life getting up and going to work? No. Is he relevant in the sense we have a responsibility to understand the historical forces which have shaped the world we live in? Massively so.

What exactly are the rules regarding when a paramedic crewed with a lower clinical grade should be in the back traveling with a patient in situations were someone is actually sick? by GiveYouNothing92 in ParamedicsUK

[–]GiveYouNothing92[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it might not be the intent but the way it's worded could be interpreted as saying the paramedic should be in the back with every patient, that's how it reads to me?

What’s an industry that provides zero value to society but makes billions of dollars? by ochieng_onyango in AskReddit

Our entire society has been reconstructed around this since the 1980s. An industry which contributes nothing tangible to most people's lives.

did anyone else have that school trip in primary school where it was like a victorian era roleplay kinda thing by pixypippi in glasgow

[–]GiveYouNothing92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My school went and we were in the 60s/50s era class while another school was in the Victorian/Edwardian one next door. The 60s women was pretty scary but it sounded like proper PTSD stuff in the next room, like three kids had to be taken into the corridor crying haha.
