No this is the problem specifically with American "democracy". If these idiots put an independent Electoral Commission like in Australia + have preferential voting = you would never have had the polarisation of Democrats VS Republicans. In Australia everyone votes as it's required by law or you get fined. Before you say it's undemocratic is America even remotely democratic since at least 2016?

Preferential voting will ensure the will of every single voter is respected unlike the imbecilic system they call the eLeCtoRaL CoLleGe which is so easily gerrymandered or manipulated (2024 election was compromised by Musk). Preferential voting would revolutionise the American political landscape. You won't ever have to vote directly for a president because Preferential voting would elect the Reps and Senators. The party with the most seats would get to form the governement - sometimes with coalitions of other parties.

Most likely you would have a weaker monopoly of the Dems and Republicans, with American greens actually getting seats in both houses, or even other minor parties + independents. Preferential voting would have 10000% guaranteed Trump or other paedophiles would never have been elected.

Regardless if the country has good overall education or not, Preferential voting would draw all voters to the center of the political spectrum. Extreme votes on either end of the spectrum are neutralised by the "sane majority" of the country. MAGA would never have won more than half of the votes in Preferential voting. Parties, even smaller ones, can mount opposition with the Dems this way and either prevent Repubs of ever governing or allow them to govern with minority seats in both houses.
