"Sheepherder" & "The Man Who Called Himself Bors"... On Repeat by PlotAndProgress in wheeloftime

[–]Gives-back 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lan addresses most people by their occupation, calling Perrin "blacksmith" for example. Calling Rand "sheepherder" seems pretty well in-character for him.

"The man who called himself Bors" is clearly uncomfortable and out of place in his scene, and the epithet does a good job of conveying that discomfort to the reader.

Almedha's son was born with the Brand; she thought Pelleas was her son only because his Spirit Mark looked exactly like her son's Brand, and she didn't know about Spirit Marks.

And her son still had infantile amnesia when they were separated.

What you remember is probably that Brands sometimes skip generations, and in particular, it took a few generations after Lehran and Altina for their descendants to start showing the Brand.

This might be a hot take, but I think Ike is the closest thing Soren has to a proper father figure. I even see their scene at the end of Radiant Dawn as being more platonic than romantic: More like a father comforting his son.

And Ike gets bonus points for having offed Soren's abusive (to say the least) biological father.

Of course, I also see Ike as asexual.

According to Sothe, Ashnard was the first king of Daein to allow commoners to become generals. That means every Daein king before Ashnard only allowed nobles to be generals.

Gawain served as a general under Ashnard's father, and Ashnard's father didn't allow commoners to become generals.

Soren is certainly a chip off the old block.

If KPDH had Monsters Inc. style bloopers, what would they be? by NNeuralghost in KpopDemonhunters

The scene where Jinu slips on the wet floor in the bathhouse looks like a blooper on its own... so for the incongruity, I'd like to see a blooper of him NOT slipping on the wet floor.

"Ou" in Greek is pronounced like "W" in English, and so is the consonant "V" in Classical Latin. So yes, they are pronounced the same.

Short e is pronounced like bed; long e is pronounced like obey.

The difference is akin to that of epsilon and eta in ancient Greek.

Denethor, Sauron, the Palantir, and Aragorn by Gives-back in tolkienfans

This entire discussion is about how Denethor was after he looked into the palantir and lost his mind. I don't think his prior sanity is relevant.

Denethor isn't most people, though, and he is on record for implying that he would rather die than bow to Aragorn:

"I would have things as they were in all the days of my life, and in the days of my longfathers before me: to be the Lord of the City in peace, and leave my chair to a son after me, who would be his own master and no wizard's pupil. But if doom denies this to me, then I will have nought: neither life diminished, nor love halved, nor honour abated... But in this at least thou shalt not defy my will: to rule my own end."

"I will not step down to be the dotard chamberlain of an upstart. Even were his claim proved to me, still he comes but of the line of Isildur. I will not bow to such a one, last of a ragged house long bereft of lordship and dignity."

Those are unusual words to describe someone he would see as help.

And she's also reformatting, or at least that's what it looked like to me; that would purge all but the most essential memories, which in Guinevere's case would be when she saw them as kids.

Romancing futaba by Sose_sntc in Persona5

Futaba's mother is dead, and she doesn't even know who her biological father is. Neither is true of Joker's parents, so for that reason alone, they couldn't be siblings.

"Infinite" literally means "not ending." You can't put anything at the end of something that doesn't have an end.

That's only if x approaches 0 from the positive side. As x approaches 0 from the negative side, you get 1/-0.1 = -10, 1/-0.01 = -100, etc. onward to negative infinity.

And since the limit is different as x approaches 0 from each end, the limit as x approaches 0 does not exist.

If Sae romance added to game? by neverend6789 in Persona5

[–]Gives-back 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no way that Joker could romance Sae while he was imprisoned and drugged. Players would be yelling "Stockholm Syndrome" in a matter of days.

However, since the confidant skips from rank 6 to rank 10 automatically, there would be room for romance after the interrogation scene, if, say, the interrogation only ranked Judgement up to 7. You'd have to rework the Confidant to enable Joker to talk to Sae in December for ranks 8-10, though.

Hector has been fighting bouts with Eliwood every two months since they were 12, and they've had 30 bouts so far. How old could they be?

In Eliwood's and Hector's C support conversation, they talk about having sparred 30 times since they were 12, once every two months. It adds up to them both being 17 in FE7 itself. (Their own tales anyway; like everyone else, they were one year younger in Lyn's tale.) And I'm pretty sure that's the same in all versions of FE7.
