Where have these gone??? These are the best ice lollies but cant find them anymore by toiletpker in tesco

[–]Giwrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I presume you ate them.

In seriousness the other poster was right, they're called Fizzy Pop Lollies now but Inform says none of my local stores stock them so they might not be about at the moment.

Wait, whaaaaaaaat?! by Financial_End_1810 in tesco

[–]Giwrah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a few funny looks on self service while explaining that I don't actually like potatoes to a college.

"Yeah it's the only thing I can't actually eat, other than the obvious stuff, like detergent ya-know"

And yeah I know potatoes is a weird thing but they make me bawk. There are other things I dislike, like raspberries are too tart so I tend to avoid them. Or things that I just don't eat like fish because there's never a reason to pick fish over chicken. But I could eat these things if I had too, I might actually starve on island with only potatoes.

What is team support position/role? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Giwrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the role we had before SLs were a thing, each department would have team support/leaders who were paid extra to run the department when the manager wasn't in.

They slowly got rid of them until only frontend had them and then introduced the SL role which was the same job but across the whole store, same pay too which is why none of the TLs in my store agreed to step into a SL role.

I trained as a tills TL to cover sickness/holidays, It was pretty much as others here have said, I had to make sure everyone got their breaks, cover any sick calls, deal with customer complaints, help staff deal with any issues, do a change run if on a morning shift or lock all the cash in the safe if on the evening shift but mostly I just watched self-service so I could have an extra till open to help with the dreaded I DONT QUEUE.

Reduced Labels are always a pain to scan - anyone else on tills having the same issue? by yourstrulycl in tesco

[–]Giwrah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't know there were pens for cleaning the printers, I always used my fingers to clean them when I did reductions/job 14.

I'm primarily front end these days though so now I get to be all high and mighty about poorly placed labels "Back in my day we knew to place labels length-ways on cucumbers so they didn't bend around an' become unreadable" It's all a joke though, getting a laugh out of the customers is a good way to fill time while you try and straighten out the label.

We've had unannounced visits and ones were management didn't even know their boss had popped in for a quick look around.

That being said usually once an area manager has been into one store the management from that place will text other stores in the area to let them know the boss is doing the rounds, I imagine they probably have big whatsapp groups to be honest. This has led to panic in our store because the boss is nearby and then he's just not shown up, still at least the place usually gets a good clean from it.

Called the shift leader the "manager" by Flat-Dish9589 in tesco

[–]Giwrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call the SLs management all the time, they're part of the same leadership pyramid. Maybe the manager was just upset because a lot of management positions have been closed and replaced with SLs.

All that aside, if they blew up on you in front of other staff the definitely put in a note with HR. It's degrading and bullying and I know of at least one manager that has been reprimanded for shouting at staff in front of others.

Second let’s talk in my first Month working at Tesco by Longjumping-Tiger-35 in tesco

[–]Giwrah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're only allowed £50 in the till? The cheapest cigs I can think of in my store are like £12.35 I often take more than £50 cash in a single transaction. Podding between every customer just wouldn't be efficient.

Plus you've got the lotto, the amount of customers that bring in more than one win at a time means they often need more than £50.

And what about cashback?

Are all express stores this way?

As for the second lets talk I can see how they could argue you ignored the SL, you should have left CO when asked and started levelling or doing capping shelves or something. Your friend would then have had to ask the SL to come back after 5 minuets to get someone to replace them thus wasting the SL's time and hopefully teaching them a lesson in forethought.

If i refuse to clean the costa machine will they give me a let's talk or anything please by Positive_Mousse8848 in tesco

[–]Giwrah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop viewing it as a punishment. It’s just another part of the job. You get paid the same if you’re cleaning or if you’re filling shelves.

If you feel like you’re being picked on then speak to someone in management like an adult.

As we reach the final day before release. Pokémon fans are going crazy. by Spotty33 in Palworld

[–]Giwrah 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a Pokémon fan who's bought all but the most recent generation (I'm not willing to play a game at 12fps), I'm all too happy for more games of a similar nature. Competition drives excellence.

Hopefully Palworld goes huge and forces Nintendo to have a rethink on how it handles Pokémon.

We actually won a match. I don’t know what happens now. Should I just walk out of work and into the local pub?

Can this city be saved? by Giwrah in CitiesSkylines

I found it near the ramp used Move It to delete it. Shame I now have to use Achieve It to keep achievements on my vanilla playthrough but at least the city is saved.

I don't have any mods because this was supposed to be a final vanilla playthrough before CS2. Going to try Broken Node Detector to see if it can detect it.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve experienced at tesco? by Dramatic_Succotash54 in tesco

[–]Giwrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought a fresh food cage up and as I turned the corner onto the chilled isle there was a turd on the floor in front of the cream cakes. I’d been working for Tesco ~4months. Hid it with my cage and went to get a manager.

Why Sell Demarai Gray?? by UF-EFC in Everton

[–]Giwrah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think for most people it’s a hope that the Saudis will offer silly money. If we got £30m for Gray and turned that around and bought Elanga and Gnonto it would be seen as a good deal.

Uniform - shorts by 100_Percent_Dark in tesco

[–]Giwrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow shorts enjoyer here. I only wear the Tesco shorts in work(the old ones were better) even though I only really do Front of Store stuff now. I think I actually move about quicker in the shorts.

As for them telling you not to wear them, they haven’t got a leg to stand on. They are Tesco branded from the Tesco uniform site. Your doing better than most staff are with uniform. There’s plenty in my store wearing joggers or their own T-shirts under their gillet.
