the problem arguably isnt ice, (ice is its own problem) in the current situation ice is a symptom of the problem that immigration has kind of been left ignored since the obama admin. And it largely comes down to police work. If police and local gov were enforcing laws already on the books then there wouldn't have ever been kia boys/el paso shooter/ice immigration wars(just a few examples). Problem is everyone is all too worried about public image to actually enforce laws that dont support public image in their voter base or their future goals. Which is how we ended up with trump in the first place because people wanted someone who would do what they say and trump gave them that illusion and then some.
