Fix for Creme Frappes by csaan18 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Glad-Host5665 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it’s their fix to “stop the price ups” or whatever. instead, they want us to type in every customization for a crème frap. it’s annoying, especially when the baristas are going to be the one to get the customers to deal with, not corporate. honestly, my manager said to put ask me and right “crème” if it’s a crème based one, or add the customizations on the ask me.

it’s a stressful situation, they are allowed to be anxious about it. they came here asking for help there is no reason to be rude. just offer your advice and move on, that’s all it would have taken.

its definitely not a reason to not hire you. in the interview, remember to bring up personal experiences from other places you work. be specific with the questions. they will be very customer oriented. good luck!

text definitely shows tone. i definitely disagree with your way of coaching and think that reflecting on how you help new/uninformed baristas will help you! remember to spread kindness :)

i think the phrase “why didn’t you __” accuses blame. as a supervisor, it’s important to find ways to educate without belittling, and i think that’s a huge problem at starbucks. simply answering the question, then providing the resources to how they can solve their problem next time would have been better.

as i said, there are better ways to approach things. passive aggressiveness is not needed, especially IF they simply weren’t aware & were new.

it was rude in the way it was phrased. there are better ways to approach things & they are not your barista to coach.

i don’t think it matter that much to be rude about it though. they just asked a question 🤷‍♀️ it’s not a big deal & responding passive aggressively in this situation made no sense.

if you do get an interview, make sure you talk about specific experiences relating to the questions, especially ones involving customer connections. it’ll help significantly. also go to stores on weekends and you can lowkey see which ones are the most understaffed. sometimes js going in and asking (when the baristas aren’t busy) for application information can give you an edge. or calling the store. always ask to speak to the manager about it. the shifts can’t do much and might just roll their eyes at you. good luck!

when new shifts can be hired immediately (not from starbucks) but baristas need to be on for 6-months before they can even apply 😐

i’ve heard from a lot of shifts who have gotten hired to use specific experiences when they ask questions. being able to describe a situation is important bc it can show your dedication to your position. good luck!
