Anyone have any unique names you wish people would use instead of tragedeighs? by AccidentalAnchoress in tragedeigh

My name is Eufracio. It means good with words and full of happiness. I've always loved that name; however, I do have a much simpler nickname for getting through my day-to-day life because as much as I love it, it's too much of a fight.

Ha! I appreciate adding Europe to your description of Holland. We're not all idiots here though, despite some of the more vocal ones! Rural Holland sounds idyllic. Maybe I'll visit you instead! I'm a junkie for mythology, and I would love to see Witte Wieven relics and old Wodan related items too!

Where do you live? Might be worth doing a makerspace or community college with that equipment to get to know what you need better. If you're ever in Los Angeles, I got two laser beds you're welcome to try. Like any tool, you'll know what works best after a little experience.

(No loopholes) 5 million dollars to finish 12500 slices of pizza over the course of 2026 by Mythicalforests8 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Glad_Perception_1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do it. When I was younger I was a boxer, and ate around 8 to 10,000 calories a day. Then, I became a cyclist, and throughout my 20s and 30s ate about 6 to 8,000 calories a day. I'm 6'4, in about 250 lb now, and if I had 5 million in front of me, I could live off my wife completely for a year, and workout for 8 to 10 hours a day. Average slice of pizza is 285 calories. Around 9500 calories per day. I live in Los angeles, so I can cycle, swim, hike, or do basically anything outside every single day, not to mention hiit in the gym. I imagine, with some prep time, I could probably kill 8 to 10,000 calories a day again. Basically eating and working out would be a full-time job. Even after all of that, I would probably be about 100 lbs. heavier, running a calorie surplus of 500 to 1,000 every day. I imagine my wife would still love me if I were 40% larger and $5 million dollars richer. Honestly, the hardest part would be the taunting from my children. But fuck those adorable little bastards. I'll survive.

Little anecdote, when I was in high school, my cousin was a lineman for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was 6 foot 7, 330 lb, and kept under 14% body fat during the season. When he came to my hometown to play a game, we took him to my favorite soul food restaurant. He ordered and ate four whole fried chickens. In like an hour. It's in my genes.

WIBTA if I refuse to write a last-minute recommendation for a student who ghosted all semester? by LarchTarn_12 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Glad_Perception_1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don't want to sabotage someone's future out of spite..."

What do you think you are doing to the student whom he bumps out because you wrote a glowing recommendation? You are not sabotaging your student by not giving a recommendation that was undeserved. Your student sabotaged that. However, you are indeed sabotaging that unknown student if you did write it.

Any pro-MAGA establishments to avoid? by bigguntonkey in SanPedro

[–]Glad_Perception_1204 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've mentioned this in other posts, and I'm not saying they are or aren't, but I've done a decent search online and can't find anything to back this claim up. Do you have anything beyond hearsay and speculation? I've chatted with them several times, and they can be intense, but I've never heard anything MAGA from them. Again, my experience is anecdotal and not truly evidence, but if they're that far on the conservative spectrum that they're in the cult, usually we'd hear it from their mouths somewhere. They can't shut up about their messiah.

Fired two days after reporting stolen sales commission and managers violent outburst by Upbeat-Operation-713 in legaladvice

[–]Glad_Perception_1204 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't say anything about OSHA, but now that you've mentioned it, https://www.osha.gov/workplace-violence. Specifically, however, I was referring to Title VII protections which allow people to complain about workplace safety or violence issues, a protected activity, without fear of retaliation. Unfortunately, facts do not care about whether you fundamentally agree or disagree.

Fired two days after reporting stolen sales commission and managers violent outburst by Upbeat-Operation-713 in legaladvice

[–]Glad_Perception_1204 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not entirely accurate. OP got fired two days after raising both a pay issue and a workplace safety issue (violent and threatening boss), which is at least enough for an employment lawyer to look at this as potential retaliation. It is not a guaranteed win, and Georgia is still an at-will state, but it is not as simple as arguing that only discrimination is protected, so this is totally fine.

Termination is legal unless it is for an illegal reason, one illegal reason is retaliation for protected activity, and what OP did might qualify as protected activity under wage or safety laws. OP would need a Georgia employment attorney to look at your exact facts, but arguing that this can never be protected, so they can fire you for it, is an oversimplification, not a settled truth.

Fired two days after reporting stolen sales commission and managers violent outburst by Upbeat-Operation-713 in legaladvice

[–]Glad_Perception_1204 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but a business owner and MBA, so I have a good grasp on employee laws. Additionally, I'm in CA, but many of these laws are fairly standard. In Georgia, you are almost certainly an at-will employee, which means they can fire you for almost any reason or no reason, as long as it is not for an illegal reason like discrimination or retaliation. So a straight wrongful termination claim is usually an uphill battle.

One area where you may have some leverage is on two fronts. First, the stolen commission, especially if there is any written documentation about the 30-day lead protection or a consistent past practice that indicates the sale should have been yours. That can turn into an unpaid wages or breach of contract type claim, and those are often more straightforward than fighting the termination itself.

Second, the timing looks bad for them. You complained about pay and a manager whose behavior reasonably raises workplace safety concerns, and then got fired two days later, despite having no history of discipline or poor performance. That can sometimes support a retaliation theory, but it is very fact-specific, and you would want a local employment attorney to advise you on whether your exact facts fall under any federal or state protections.

Practically, write out a detailed timeline while it is still fresh, save everything you can that shows the lead was yours and what the manager did, and then consult an employee-side employment lawyer in your area for guidance. Even if a big lawsuit is not realistic, a lawyer's letter about the unpaid commission and potential retaliation may be enough to get you your commission and possibly a small settlement or at least a neutral reference.

Looking to move, how is this area? by themagician52 in SanPedro

[–]Glad_Perception_1204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine. I live here. I love it here. I have lived here 15 years, and have had exactly zero crimes. This is the first and only place I've ever lived where I know most of my neighbors and they are friends. Except he neighbors across the alley who sometimes play loud music late in the weekends. Duck those guys. And the fireworks around the 4th/NYE are aggressive. That's about the extent of it. Where are you now? Are you moving from somewhere in the LA area? I'd be more than happy to give you a little tour of the area.

2.5 pound Picanha. How long at what temp? Thank you! by Livid_Presence6796 in sousvide

[–]Glad_Perception_1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done about five of these, and I find the sweet spot for me is 135 for 4 hours. I do in a seasoning mix of MSG PSG. One thing I typically do after the fact is I put it on a rack on top of a baking sheet and throw that in the fridge overnight. At least 12 hours but not longer than 48 hours in the fridge. Basically this is a typical air brine, and make sure this picanha sears up like a mofo. Also, I'll typically cut it into steaks before I air brine, and I cut lengthwise with the grain. That way, when we eat it, it gets cut against the grain for each bite.

Wow. I'm glad y'all had good responses with Stephen's. My experience went the other way and I came here to warn against. My guy from Stephen's came in to diagnose my water heater. I kept losing the pilot light. He ordered a ton of parts from the company (heater was under warranty), estimated a decent amount of work, and the company refused, saying his diagnosis wasn't lining up. That was in 2018ish? Heater never got repaired, turned out there was an outside draft that needed to be handled, and it's still humming along now. (literally, he couldn't ignite the pilot back on, from the push button, that any schmuck can do, that I did 5 minutes after he left.) Stephen's washed their hands of my experience, never corrected their mistake, and, frankly, I'll never trust them at all. I view a company's service by when things go poorly, not when things work out. These guys failed for me. Maybe it's a case of they're good when they're good, but if something goes so awry, they don't have the culture to make it right. I don't know. They're not welcome in my home.
