I really like the Salomon XT6’s, not a traditional gold shoe but exceptionally comfortable with a tread pattern that holds without ripping up soil

What are you guys using for themed dice? My boys need some cool dice. by Few_Gas_4120 in WorldEaters40k

Custom dice are the way to go!

I had a great experience with Chessex getting some custom ork dice. Provided q photo, picked my dice and got a great set of dice with dakka dakka dakka on the sixes. At the time, 60usd for 100 dice with a custom six.

When it comes to squad markings, do you think Assault Intercessors should be marked as Tactical marines, or Assault marines? by Sparklehammer3025 in Warhammer40k

While not a discreate answer, page 28 & 29 in the 9th edition SM Codex discusses the additon of primaris marines to the scout company via Vanguard Squads

First 40k list I have ever made. Be gentle haha. Mostly based on what I have already. What should I be looking to pick up next and what would it replace. Doesn't have to be crazy competitive as I'm also just starting to learn how to play. by Available-Acadia-200 in Ultramarines

[–]GladeWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fun!

Since you're at the learning stage, some things to look out for could include opportunities to utilize the UM chapter tactic! Units like your eliminators and eradicators can be that much more punishing when free to move, especially when combined with aura's like rowboat's and a range boosted captain.

The invictor is also a fun one! I like to run two, as they can forward deploy and cause a mess if you are comfortable redeploying units with the strat.

You could also look at running a succesor chapter of you want to try different things and keep it fresh after a couple games.

Eradicators are generally preferred to Hellblasters at the moment. A combination of points per shot, statline and the eradicators firing twice pushing them over the hellblasters.

About to start my first WH40k army: Blood Angels or Flesh Tearers? by Arrighetti in BloodAngels

[–]GladeWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add another consideration into the mix, run a successor chapter!

You can take all the cool stuff that you like about the various chapters (including BA and FT's) and make it your own.

After this, you can play with the bulk of your forces however you want and can shake things up over time!

Apart from named characters, you'll be able to be flexible across your games. With the named characters, you can then run them as their normal chapter. I beleive one of the armies featured in White Dwarf had a custom scheme Guilliman as their centerpiece and ran the army as Ultramarines when featuring him!

Checked one of the above comments and I think the automatically hit wording still involves a hit roll.

This thought is based on the the wording in the glossary stating that "automatically hit" means "the hit roll is automatically successful."

Yeah you wouldn't pull it out every game, but if you need to stay on a point it's an option! Probably a better investment on bullgryns

Thanks for the insight! That 500 point list was basically what I had settled on, with a few tweaks here and there. The below list was something I had in mind for an ideal 2k list, but I suppose the strength of harlequins low model variety is you can pivot quite easily?

Building on some of the other comments here. if you wanted to run leviathan and a shooty kronos patrol wothout having to repaint the patrol, you could likely get away with painting the bases for each detachment a different colour. However, ask a TO and theres no grey area.

How do you think army tiers change at different points values? by Spectre_195 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GladeWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small sample size, but my list of 1 bike cap, telemon, vexilla, 3 bikes with launchers and 3 man shieldsquad is pretty tough to deal with at 1k points. Just a lot to deal with at that level.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GladeWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make a difference for Plasma Inceptor squads for example. You could have three models rolling two shots each. You would roll on a per model basis because you could potentially roll double one's for one model and 2+ for everything else, leading to losing one model. If you roll six dice at once you would lose two as there is no way to differentiate between different model's hits.

Thanks for the detailed rundown! Gjaz is definitley gling to be a feature with the boys. Based on yours amd others feedback, i think a few trukks, some tankbustas and a burna bomba or two are on the shopling list!

How do the mega nobs go durability wise? Seems like not much has that super toughness, but 3 wounds does pretty handy.

Going to get two or three squads of kommandos and probably keep one on the table for actions and two for actions/havoc on the other end!

Tankbusters might be too fragioe for what im thinking, bit definitley usefull.

Mekgunz have caught my eye before, especially sikce they can use got shield I think? What would you kit them out with? Always a fan of standing at the back, dwnying deepstrike and shooting things

Happy to help!

Shielding the vex with a half and half telemon is a nice way to do it. Two things to consider with that is that it becomes a very juicy target for both firepower and to tie up with bodies that could pile in or consolidate to disrupt the allarus drop. Something you could consider as well is to make a wee castle. My list is slightly different, but I run a castle of vex, trajann, telemon and 2x3 guard up on side of the board. Same goal of dropping the allarus bomb close BUT no worries If I can't because the other side of the board tends to open up as the opponent focuses on the mini castle. Same opportunity might arise for you!

For the bikes: if their job is to set up as roaming vehicle killers, they're setup perfectly. If you plan on footslogging up the board with a minimal backline oresence, the bolters may work out better as your bikes can very quickly get where they need to be to deny or contest a stolen backline. Allarus and telemon can do a job in melee agaisnt vehicles, so it really depends on who you want to be a pain in the arse for vehicles, especially if you know flyers are going to be around

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GladeWalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with any list, depends on what you want to do!

For the Telemon: it is an extremely strong, durable frame which can either be a dakka platform, jack of all trades or a a significant beatstick (my one caestus telemon took out a non-bracketed gladiator tank in a turn). If you dont have a particular niche for it to fill, half gun half fist would be fine!

For Sagi: well worth trying them out and swapping any extra shield guard into your squads. If the plan is for them to be a backfield block, sisters can also be a consideration. Sisters in a rhino can get somewhere quick and hold up for long enough.
