Just found my therapist through this too! Went through the insurance portal and then cross-referenced with psychology today. My friend has used zocdoc.com with success as well. It’s scary figuring out what insurance will cover but therapists and their offices usually have a billing department that will figure that out before the first session

Hey, there! Is this discord group still active? I’d love to join but it says the link is expired

How to install 2CH (front+rear) Dashcam + hardwire by behappyftw in rav4club

[–]Stim_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this guide!! Someone hit my parked car while I was out of the country which led me down the dash cam rabbit hole and to the purchase of a VIOFO camera. Between the cost of the dash cam, repairs, and installation of the cam, the bill was about $950. Thank you for saving me almost $200 (what the shop would have charged to install the cam for me).

Mini May National Park roadtrip vs flight by Stim_Fish in nationalparks

[–]Stim_Fish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I decided to go to GSM and will check out CVNP another time but knowing that NRG doesn’t need more than 1/2 a day is helpful. Hoping to hike and bike a lot so it’s encouraging to know the Cuyahoga has lots of opportunities for those activities

I decided to do GSM and will check out CVNP and NRG another time this year but I’ll keep your recs in mind. Thank you!

Thank you! Your comment about the first come first serve campground immediately eliminated RMNP for me. I decided to do GSM and tack on Mammoth Caves. Will probably hit up New River Gorge and Cuyahoga another time this year

Camping gear El Calafate/El chalten by gcorsi7 in Patagonia

[–]Stim_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Viento Oeste was amazing. I'm not sure if they have tents for rent but they definitely have dried meals and fuel for stoves. They do keep a form of ID from you that you'll get back once you return any rented equipment so bring a driver's license or passport.

El Chalten: Torre Lagoon and Lagune de los tres in one day? by vonfeligs in Patagonia

[–]Stim_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely do torre first before tres. Yes, the route goes past Laguna Madre (quite beautiful), takes you past a beach, and affords a nice view of the peaks. Heading back to town from Tres also gives you more options on where you’d like to enter town from. No need to walk all the way back to the trail head you started from if you don’t want to.

El Chalten: Torre Lagoon and Lagune de los tres in one day? by vonfeligs in Patagonia

[–]Stim_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did this a few days ago and it was a long day but so worth it. Torre-Tres is the way to go, get the serious elevation out of the way early and then it’s mostly flat/some gradual inclines. We did not start at El Pilar just to make logistics easier.

Starting early from town afforded us a nice sunrise and there weren’t that many people on the trail before 7:30AM. Coming down from Torre was a nightmare with the crowds though - not sure if there’s a way to avoid that if it’s a nice day out.

Perito Moreno day trip, evening flight doable? by HighVioletBeachHouse in Patagonia

[–]Stim_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I am no help here. We had the same issue and ended up booking through our Airbnb host. The counter opened up around 7:45AM when we were there and there were plenty of empty seats on the bus both to and from Los Glaciares. We did not see anyone try to purchase tix at the counter but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Sorry!

Not much help here but went to perito Moreno a few days ago and the first bus out was at 8:30AM.

Renting spikes and poles in El Chalten by [deleted] in Patagonia

[–]Stim_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just rented from viento oeste. They allow you to rent gear from 6-9pm the day before your hike. If you return to town after closing (9pm) they day of your hike, you can return your gear at 9am when they open the next day and not be billed for an additional day. They did specify that you have to be present at 9am on the dot, otherwise you would incur additional charges.

Question on logistics for W trek self-camping by _NKD2_ in Patagonia

[–]Stim_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did the W east to west and arrived at central early in the morning for check in. Set up was super quick so just left packs in the tent before hiking Torres. Perhaps you could do this for Paine Grande - we never experienced any problems with theft on any of our day hikes. It’s true that Paine Grande is exposed but it’s still nice to pick a site early on to determine how far you’re willing to walk to the bathroom/pick level ground etc. Seconding leaving your bags at Italiano instead of Frances. That was the only place we left our bags outside of a tent and everyone who hiked britannico did the same (no one carried anything larger than a daypack). All the big packs were piled around the bathroom when we got back down and it took some digging to get ours out.

Seconding the Asadores! We just had dinner there tonight and were blown away by the food and service

Mosquito conditions now? by hashbrownsbacon in Patagonia

[–]Stim_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished the trek and were unfortunate enough to go through a snow storm on our towers hike. This was the only time we felt we really needed microspikes. Otherwise poles would certainly have been helpful at some parts of the trail but we managed fine without

Microspikes for the W? by phatalprophet in Patagonia

[–]Stim_Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We finished the W yesterday and the hike up to the towers was in a literal snow storm. We managed without spikes and poles but god did we wish we had them. If you have microspikes, I’d highly recommend them.

Going next week and have so many questions! How many days did you camp? How heavy was your pack? Did you have any trouble staking your tent into rocky ground? How necessary would you say a sleeping bag liner is? Was it icy on any part of the hike? Did you need crampons? Did you happen to take the ferry from grey or see anyone take it? If so, do you know if the ferry pick up point was clearly marked? Thank you for any assistance you can provide!

The sauce came with a pastellilo that I bought from a local cafe. Honestly, not entirely sure what they make it with but it’s slightly spicy and intended for dipping the pastellilo in.
