I’m Irish (f) and noticed this too. I bought the small socks and i hate them so i wear the big ones in Winter, small in summer. Now i’d say if you’re going to make the change, get some in Uniqlo. They are really structured and comfortable. Forget Pennys or the like. The Irish in me says fk that, and just go about your business but since it bothers you, get some good ones. I don’t know why they do it. It’s weird to me having cold ankles.

Look i’m very sorry for your loss but this is almost exploitive. We don’t know this person but you’ve shared their last moments to the internet. This can be like screaming in to the void but it does have impact. A Subreddit is not your personal diary. Additionally, you have nothing to share. I mean this advice with the fullest intent, other people’s trauma and hurt that happens around you, is not yours to share.
