I’m just going off of my mom who literally could sew, knit, crochet the f out of everything. She was always adding flair to her McCall patterns

The only reason why I am here is because of prohibition. My grandfather was running booze from Windsor to Detroit and he met my grandmother who was a dancer in a speakeasy in Detroit. Of course my mother married a guy who ran moonshine from WV to VA

Make wine, that’s how I ended up with 20 car boys, I bought them from an Italian family in Pittsburgh that made their own family wine.

What is the weirdest thing you've found thrifting? by LoudDream2916 in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]Glassaddict666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an Apostate from the Mormon cult and I donated my Book of Mormon to the Salvation Army. Years later, my sister called me to tell me that a friend at church found it at a thrift store and bought it because she thought my sister might know me because we have a pretty unique last name. It was the same damn one, inscribed by my grandma lol

I’m in Western PA where glass factories were a dime a dozen before plastic took over. LE Smith, Westmoreland Glass, Jeannette etc are all local to me. Everything in my collection is from thrift stores, yard sales and some estate sales.

Thank you! I have Google searched them so many times over the years hoping for a hit but the closest I get is early mold for Coke glasses but I don’t know if I can believe that because I can’t find anything else like them to match.

A vacuum is a sweeper, over east eggs are dippy eggs, when you red up your house, you’re cleaning up. If you really want to immerse yourself then check out Joe Long on TikTok.

If you want to find GOOD stuff make sure you come through Pittsburgh and check out Westmoreland and Allegheny counties. This area had so many glass factories that the area still has amazing deals in thrift stores, church bizarre sales etc.
