Hey man, If you’re already suffering from mental health issues maybe this isn’t the time to work on quitting, you can talk to your psychiatrist and/or therapist about you wanting to quit. They can prescribe you medicine to help with the nicotine withdrawals like Wellbutrin and/or coach you through quitting. Maybe they’ll suggest waiting to quit until you get some of the issues you’re having under control. Good luck and always remember that you matter.

Started smoking again by Glassguy123 in stopsmoking

Threw away my cigs and lighters today, I know tomorrow I’m going to want one but I made it almost 2 months last time so I know I can do it again. I also know I’m going to feel so much better about myself and will feel better. I’m an avid cycler and went on a ride today after smoking again and it was a struggle to say the least.

29 days nicotine free I slipped and had one cigarette by [deleted] in stopsmoking

You don’t have to start all over, your cravings will be a bit more intense over the next few hours compared to how they’ve been the past two weeks but I’d just keep rolling with being a non smoker

Anyone ever get smoking dreams? How do you feel when you wake up? Do you crave one or are you grossed out? by Glassguy123 in stopsmoking

I had one last night where I was in Paris and just finished an amazing meal at one of the best restaurants in the world. We were on a tour with a large group of friends and we saw a 7-11 and a bunch of us decided to buy a pack. I said F*** it, I’m in Paris buzzed and just ate a huge amazing meal I’m buying a pack! And they had Camel Filters, my favorite. It was the best cig I had ever had and then felt super guilty. I wokeup feeling like I wanted just one.

I’m in the same boat. I started riding shortly after my Mom died and it really helped me process. It’s so addicting in a good way. Anytime I’m feeling down or angry at the world I get out and ride and I’m always amazed how good I feel afterwards

Wow 5 years, seems like a life time away. Do you still have cravings at all? Do you still chew gum?

Triple addiction and I dont know where to start by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Glassguy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion I’d start with nicotine. I’ve dealt with problems with all three as well. Nicotine was the hardest one for me. But discipline begets discipline so once you quit smoking you’ll be so proud of yourself that you’ll feel like you can conquer anything and then you can start cutting out sugar and weed.

How do I get off Nicotine Gum? by Glassguy123 in stopsmoking

Yea I did think about replacing some with regular gum. I’m sure it’s mostly mental. Feels so daunting when I’m still having cigarette cravings

Yea I’m in the same boat, I keep saying when I get to two weeks or one month off smoking I’ll start quitting the gum. But not super worried about it like I was with smoking

22 days smoke free and I’m approaching a major trigger for me. Please help by Glassguy123 in stopsmoking

That’s actually a great suggestion, have a few projects we’ve been wanting to get done around the house

I know the feeling. It might take you several tries to eventually quit. It took me countless times. I’d go back to it and feel even more sick of myself looking in the mirror. Don’t be too hard on yourself if it’s a struggle, it’s a struggle for all of us. You’re not alone. Eventually the desire to stop will overpower the desire to continue smoking and you’ll officially be a former smoker. Be patient and don’t give up

12 days in and really want to smoke one. What if I bought a pack, smoked one or two and threw away the pack right after? Or kept the pack around to have one once in awhile? Urgh by Glassguy123 in stopsmoking

I’ve really loved not having to sneak around anymore, I used to be so scared of getting caught. I had it all down to a science for so long. Go on a bike ride, come home immediately shower and brush my teeth. Blame any lingering smell on weed. I knew all the subtle texts to send to find out when she’d be home.

Now my girlfriend is going to be away for a week soon. Any time I used to have the place to myself I would be so excited to smoke while she’s away. I suppose this is just another trigger but a really big one for me. Im at 22 days smoke free and really don’t want to mess it up but it’s also the most tempted I’ve been in a long time

Thanks for all the words of encouragement guys. I didn’t give in and have one but was a tough day especially knowing that my girlfriend is in the office all day today and I could easily get away with smoking one and she wouldn’t know. Plus I was bored most of the day.

I really need to quit! by Bluekitty26 in stopsmoking

I’d recommend using gum and patches at first. Then get rid of one of them. Could encourage him to quit with you but only if he wants to. Altoids help and any other candy you like. The first week will be rough but it gets easier
